Legion
Riker Kane - 2019
My life wasn't terrible but it wasn't amazing either. Just... average. That's how I ended up applying to the Legion Omega Defense. They're a new age military that came around about forty or so years ago to defeat the beasts in Pandora. The wars these days aren't fought with each other. Nope. We've got more serious threats to deal with. Some unknown dimension the scientists haven't quite figured out completely.
'Choose your class. Raise your weapon. Level up. Save the world.'
That's what the brochure says. It's like they were targeted right at me. Some cash. A place to stay. A weapon and a chance to do my part against humanity's greatest threat. I might even make a friend or two. How can I turn it down? Joining the Legion... I have no idea what to expect. I guess I'll have to see this for myself..." NOTE: Legion is a modern-day, fantasy/sci-fi action-adventure containing simple litrpg/gamelit leveling mechanics, stats, abilities, fantasy harem & relationship elements, random battles, boss fights, and lots of dialogue. It's intended for mature readers.

The Higher Powers of Mind and Spirit
Ralph Waldo Trine - 1917
We realise that we are living below our possibilities. We long for the realisation of the life that we feel should be.Instinctively we perceive that there are within us powers and forces that we are making but inadequate use of, and others that we are scarcely using at all. Practical metaphysics, a more simplified and concrete psychology, well-known laws of mental and spiritual science, confirm us in this conclusion. Our own William James, he who so splendidly related psychology, philosophy, and even religion, to life in a supreme degree, honoured his calling and did a tremendous service for all mankind, when he so clearly developed the fact that we have within us powers and forces that we are making all too little use of - that we have within us great reservoirs of power that we have as yet scarcely tapped. The men and the women who are awake to these inner helps - these directing, moulding, and sustaining powers and forces that belong to the realm of mind and spirit - are never to be found among those who ask: Is life worth the living? For them life has been multiplied two, ten, a hundred fold.
Bradshaw’s Handbook
George Bradshaw - 1861
Produced as the British railway network was reaching its zenith, and as tourism by rail became a serious pastime, it was the first national tourist guide specifically organized around railway journeys, and to this day offers a glimpse through the carriage window at a Britain long past. Bradshaw's Descriptive Railway Hand-Book of Great Britain and Ireland was published in four parts, describing the sights to be seen in towns and cities encountered along selected railway journeys in each region. Gathered together into a single book, it bore the short title Bradshaw's Handbook and after a few years, passed into obscurity, remaining extremely rare to this day. This is facsimile of that book, possibly the only surviving example of the 1863 edition. The original Bradshaw's Handbook inspired the BBC2 television series Great British Railway Journeys, now preparing for a fourth season.

Ancient Book Of Jasher
Ken Johnson - 2008
The Ancient Book of Jasher is the only one of the 13 that still exists. It is referenced in Joshua 10:13; 2 Samuel 1:18; and 2 Timothy 3:8. This volume contains the entire 91 chapters plus a detailed analysis of the supposed discrepancies, cross-referenced historical accounts, and detailed charts for ease of use. As with any history book there are typographical errors in the text but with three consecutive timelines running though the histories it is very easy to arrive at the exact dates of recorded events. It is not surprising that this ancient document confirms the Scripture and the chronology given in the Hebrew version of the Old Testament, once and for all settling the chronology differences between the Hebrew Old Testament and the Greek Septuagint. The Ancient book of Jasher is brought to you by Biblefacts Ministries, Biblefacts.org

In the final section, Khushwant Singh shares some of his own life codes and those of the rebels and mavericks he most admires.
