The Greatest Fight (Updated, Annotated): Spurgeon's Urgent Message for Pastors, Teachers, and Evangelists

Charles Haddon Spurgeon - 2008
    – 1 Corinthians 2:4 This book examines three things that are of utmost importance in this fight of faith. The first is our armory, which is the inspired Word of God. The second is our army, the church of the living God, which we must lead under our Lord’s command. The third is our strength, by which we wear the armor and use the sword. The message in this book, when originally presented by Charles Spurgeon in his final address to his own Pastor's College, was received rapturously and enthusiastically. It was almost immediately published and distributed around the world and in several languages. After Charles Spurgeon's death in 1892, 34,000 copies were printed and distributed to pastors and leaders in England through Mrs. Spurgeon's book fund. It is with great pleasure that we present this updated and very relevant book to the Lord's army of today. About the Author Charles Haddon (C. H.) Spurgeon (1834-1892) was a British Baptist preacher. He started preaching at age 17 and quickly became famous. He is still known as the “Prince of Preachers” and frequently had more than 10,000 people present to hear him preach at the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London. His sermons were printed in newspapers, translated into many languages, and published in many books.

The Grace Outpouring: Blessing Others through Prayer

Roy Godwin - 2008
In keeping with God s pattern of using marginal people from obscure places - fishermen, tax collectors, children, women and Galileans - this story sees God intrude into the mundane rhythms of life in a Christian retreat centre, run by a couple who would have been forgiven for opting for a quiet life when they arrived in this quiet Welsh hamlet. God s intrusion has not only sparked the growth of a House of Prayer but also touched many lives with healing, repentance and encouragement. The tangible presence of God has released visions of Jesus, angelic messengers and a steady stream of non-believers seeking to understand the encounter with God that they experience as they venture near this converted farmhouse. The multiple miracles will provoke the reader to wonder and worship but the book also imparts a fresh understanding of how the church might bless a community through prayer as a prelude to the breaking in of the Kingdom of God into every area of local life. A fresh perspective on evangelism emerges from this inspiring insight into how God might work in your community.

Ancient Book Of Jasher

Ken Johnson - 2008
The Ancient Book of Jasher is the only one of the 13 that still exists. It is referenced in Joshua 10:13; 2 Samuel 1:18; and 2 Timothy 3:8. This volume contains the entire 91 chapters plus a detailed analysis of the supposed discrepancies, cross-referenced historical accounts, and detailed charts for ease of use. As with any history book there are typographical errors in the text but with three consecutive timelines running though the histories it is very easy to arrive at the exact dates of recorded events. It is not surprising that this ancient document confirms the Scripture and the chronology given in the Hebrew version of the Old Testament, once and for all settling the chronology differences between the Hebrew Old Testament and the Greek Septuagint. What's So Amazing About Grace/Where is God When It Hurts

Philip Yancey - 2008
If grace is God’s love for the undeserving, and if Christians are its sole dispensers, then how are we doing at lavishing grace on a world that knows far more of cruelty and unforgiveness than it does of mercy? Offering compelling, true portraits of grace’s life-changing power, Yancey searches for its presence in his own life and in the church. And he challenges us to become living answers to a world that desperately wants to know, What’s So Amazing About Grace?WHERE IS GOD WHEN IT HURTS? If there is a loving God, then why is it that … ? You’ve heard that question, perhaps asked it yourself. No matter how you complete it, at its root lies the issue of pain. In this award-winning book, Philip Yancey reveals a God who is neither capricious nor unconcerned. Using examples from the Bible and from his own experiences, Yancey looks at pain—physical, emotional, and spiritual—and helps us understand why we suffer. Where Is God When It Hurts? will speak to those for whom life sometimes just doesn’t make sense. And it will help equip anyone who wants to reach out to someone in pain but doesn’t know what to say.

Reckless Faith: Let Go and Be Led

Beth Guckenberger - 2008
They're not a history of how I found myself living on the side of a mountain in Mexico, and I'm not sure that would interest anyone but my mother and her friends anyway. Instead, I've mined my journals for those moments when God used the very people I thought I was in Mexico to lead, to lead me. Time and again I've been led to trust God, with my little mustard seed of faith, to see how he not only shows up in our circumstance---but he shows off! It's not because he needs to prove himself; rather, he is demonstrating to a forgotten population---the orphans that I serve---that he will be their Father and Protector and Provider.'Beth and Todd established a ministry that helps orphans---the poorest, most defenseless members of a needy populace. And while the stories here are drawn from those experiences, this book isn't a memoir. It's about living with faith, with the certainty that God will show up, exactly where and exactly when He's needed. Beth calls it a reckless faith---a willingness to trust even when you don't understand. And her book---an inspiring collection of true stories about real people who, when faced with real challenges, chose to trust God---is a call to live with Reckless Faith.

Wild Goose Chase: Reclaim the Adventure of Pursuing God

Mark Batterson - 2008
Perfect.Celtic Christians had a name for the Holy Spirit–An Geadh-Glas, or ‘the Wild Goose.’ The name hints at mystery. Much like a wild goose, the Spirit of God cannot be tracked or tamed. An element of danger, an air of unpredictability surround Him. And while the name may sound a little sacrilegious, I cannot think of a better description of what it’s like to follow the Spirit through life. I think the Celtic Christians were on to something….Most of us will have no idea where we are going most of the time. And I know that is unsettling. But circumstantial uncertainty also goes by another name: Adventure.”

Unlimiting God: Increasing Your Capacity to Experience the Divine

Richard Blackaby - 2008

But if you are ready to explode your self-imposed limits, Dr. Richard Blackaby can guide you through powerful and passionate insights revealed in this new book. By contrasting mediocrity with the spirituality of the great "heroes of the faith," Dr. Blackaby shows you that you need not settle for less than God intends for you. God can do extraordinary things through ordinary people like you...but only when you allow Him to enlarge your spiritual capacity and overcome your self-imposed limits. "I hope this book inspires you to aim for a new level of walking with God. I want you to reach heights in your spiritual life that you never dreamed were possible, to experience God working through your life in a powerful new dimension, to hear words from God that will dramatically change your life and your world. Forgiveness

Rodney Hogue - 2008
Do you realize that your offender still has power over parts of your life until you forgive? The act of forgiveness can be and should be a simple act of the will. Once you know you should forgive, it could be just an immediate decision of the will. However for many it just isn’t that simple. Some people need to wrestle through this process in order to solidify it in their lives. It isn’t uncommon to find people who, after making a choice of their will to forgive, still find themselves wondering if they really did forgive since feelings of unforgiveness still linger. Others haven’t done the necessary follow-up work to rebuild their heart so that bitterness has no place to return.Based on a Christian frame work, the author leads the readers to the place of being willing to take the risk of releasing their offenders and learn to live in freedom. In the book the reader will see the necessity of forgiveness to release every offender in their life. To accomplish that objective the reader will first understand what forgiveness really means. There are too many misconceptions of what forgiveness really is and it requires clarification. When one really understands what they are doing when they forgive another, they might not be reluctant to forgive, or even struggle with the idea of it. The author then examines how one opens the door to bitterness and gives it a home in their heart. This subject is covered because it helps unravel the areas where we have entangled ourselves that have kept this door open. The book In conclusion, seeks to help create a heart where bitterness has a difficult time penetrating into it. Wouldn’t it be great to walk through life with a Teflon© nonstick spiritual armor, where offenses slide off rather than stick as they are thrown at you daily? Building a heart that quickly resolves offenses is actually the most important aspect of this book. It is imperative that our hearts be ruled by a stronghold of compassion so we will react and see everyone – even our offenders – through the eyes of Jesus.

The Everyday Visionary: Focus Your Thoughts, Change Your Life

Jesse Duplantis - 2008
Life is about dreaming, doing, and enjoying yourself in the process. Sometimes it might seem as if your dreams are just too wildly improbable, or there are too many obstacles standing in your way, or you've missed your window of opportunity. But if those dreams are divinely inspired, hope is far from lost. You just need to know how to visualize the path to your dream to make it a reality. Born a poor Cajun boy in south Louisiana, Jesse Duplantis was a rock musician in his early years and, after a life-changing experience with God, became one of the most candid, and popular, ministers of the Gospel today. For thirty years Jesse Duplantis has demonstrated what life can be when you focus on finding your personal path and nurturing a closer relationship with God and Jesus Christ. Jesse believes God can help anyone to succeed--no matter who you are or where you come from. Weaving visionary-style thinking with powerful life principles and stories from his own life, Jesse shares what destiny really is, how to find yours, and how to avoid letting others kill your joy. You'll also learn about the "Greatest Weaknesses" and "Destiny Killers" that have prevented people from achieving their goals. Other key topics Jesse explores include: • The amazing power of human imagination: God gave it to you for a reason! • The strategic power of "determined" thoughts: Learn to use them and see results. • What to do if you feel it's too late for your dream: God-given dreams have no expiration dates. • Why you can't have what you speak against: Use the magnetic power of words to draw in what you know is yours. • How to overcome discouragement: It's okay to shut the door on negativity. • The big picture: You are important to God, and your dreams and visionary-style thinking may affect future generations. As Jesse says, "Somebody is going to succeed...why not you?" You can experience real joy, ful-fillment, and success by following God's path to your dreams!

Genesis Trilogy Series

Kacy Barnett-Gramckow - 2008
Shem is captivated by Annah's courage, and he risks everything to help her gain her freedom. Trusting in the Most High, Annah marries Shem and joins her strange new family in their solitary faith that will ultimately separate them from an ancient world of amazing beauty and appalling violence -- a world fast approaching the unimaginable catastrophe of the Great Flood. Out of this chaos, only eight people will survive. Their world is our world. Their future is our own. In "He Who Lifts the Skies," powerful imagery creates a 'you are there' immersion in the story of the post-Flood world. Kacy Barnett-Gramckow fans raved about her extraordinary job of moving the Flood off the Sunday School flannelgraph board and into life in "The Heavens Before." Now, she continues to flesh out the Bible's brief account of the rise of Nimrod and the Babel rebellion with scintillating characters and a wealth of imaginative detail. In "A Crown in the Stars," the story follows the growing rebellion of mankind as the tribes of the earth continue building the great tower begun by Nimr-Rada (commonly known as Nimrod). After the Most High Himself thwarts their plans by confounding human speech, He comforts His followers by revealing to them the identity of Avram, father of the tribe that will bring forth their savior, the Promised One.
