Stress-Proof Your Life (52 Brilliant Ideas)

Elisabeth Wilson - 2008
Stress-proof your life is for the people who struggle to find time for a shower much less a bath. It's for the ones who are still clicking their mouse or ironing a shirt at 11.30pm. The ones who don't take their annual leave and worry that stress is affecting their health and relationships. Or they would worry if they weren't so knackered and that report wasn't due in at 9am. It's going to take a lot more than a candle-lit bubble bath to sort them out..." Elisabeth Wilson. Stress is not a generic thing although it's always treated that way. Some people are really good at avoiding some stresses without realising that they are slaves to another kind. Elisabeth looks at the sources - occupational, genetic and environmental - and reveals 52 clever techniques and ideas that focus on the causes rather than simply telling people how to deal with the symptoms. Here are just some of the chapters to be discovered: * Admit your addiction! * The power of positive stress; * Give a little, get a lot - why volunteering could be the best decision you've ever made; * Too stressed to sleep? - it happens, here's what to do if it happens to you (Strictly no lavender candles); * and The 'stop and collapse' effect - if you're fed up with getting sick on the very first day of your holiday, here's how to prevent it. With the "52 Brilliant Ideas" series readers can enhance their existing skills with negligible investment of time or money and will substantially improve their performance over the course of a year. Each of the 52 chapters tackles a single aspect of the subject in an entertaining and lively way. At the end of each chapter is a "how did it go?" feature which allows readers to reflect on the lesson in a classical experiential learning pattern. The tone of each book is personal and informal; readers will feel as thought they are having a one-to-one with their favourite coach.

Woodcraft (Illustrated): by Nessmuk

George Washington Sears - 2008
The other seems to have only about 70 pages, and the graphics look quite odd. - see for yourself - do a "Look Inside" and compare for yourself. I believe this one to be far superior to the others. This edition has been meticulously transposed for Kindle from the 1920 edition, with many illustrations. This version also has an Active Table of Contents, and List of Illustrations. A fabulous read and an education in itself, George Washington Sears, aka, Nessmuk, takes the reader through all stages of camping, e.g., preparation, building a good fire, cooking, fishing, tent building, safety, etc. etc. All kinds of personal stories are woven into the fabric, to make reading a real pleasure. Many of these skills have been lost to modern man because of "advances" in technology. Among these pages you will find the nuggets of knowledge that will serve you long after your batteries have run out:)

Badlands

Nathan Jones - 2018
When a convoy of settlers from Utah Valley fleeing the horror of a fallout zone larger than they'd realized offer him a job guiding them to a new life in Texas, he's dubious of their chances of even making it through the badlands. But he needs a new horse and the pay is right, so he agrees. Kristy Graham hasn't left her little farming community in Utah Valley since before the nukes flew. But now, mourning the death of her husband to radiation sickness, she must get herself and her young son Skyler to Texas and the new life they plan to start there. It's going to be a brutal journey pushing a handcart for hundreds of miles through some of the hottest, driest, most inhospitable terrain in the US. Thankfully she's not alone, sharing the burden of handling the large cart with her friends the Hendricksons, who've been a second family to her and her son since their tragic loss. It's a long ways to Texas, where word of prosperity thanks to trade with groups in Mexico and nations even farther south has drawn a stream of settlers from all the nearby states. But rumors abound that the prosperity has also drawn bandits and other unsavory sorts to the area, preying on the convoys traveling to and from the new trade outpost. The journey to Texas will be difficult and dangerous enough even without the threat of attack, and it's on Tom's shoulders to lead them safely to their new lives. Then he can get back to his own peaceful, solitary life up in the mountains. Or at least that was the plan before he met Kristy.
