The Substitute
Xavier Neal - 2017
It's sensible. Logical. Abandoning my plans for a career in the film industry and a life full of fun, albeit slightly reckless, actions was the responsible thing to do. That's who I am now. That's who I've become. Mr. Boring. Mr. Predictable. Mr. Anal Retentive. At least that's what I thought until one irresistible student breathes life back into the version of me I've been desperately trying to suffocate. Being with Ainsley isn't a want. It's a need. And I'm willing do anything to fulfill it. Ainsley I've spent my entire life ashamed of who I am. Who my mother is. What she does. Being forced to attend a private school where people endlessly whisper about it is only bearable because I know exactly what's in my future. I know exactly where I'm going. I know exactly what to do to get there. Or at least I thought I did. One class with him and suddenly my entire world was missing one very important piece. Being with Nate isn't just about sex. It's about loving life in a way I never imagined. The situation isn't ideal, but I'll do whatever it takes to be with him.

Bad Theology Kills: Undoing Toxic Belief & Reclaiming Your Spiritual Authority
Kevin Garcia - 2020
They believed that God could never love them because they were queer, leading to a deadly shame that nearly took Kevin's life. Kevin felt trapped by fear. Fear of losing their community, their family, and even their connection to God.That is until Kevin changed their mind, finally hearing the voice of the Spirit calling them to believe something better.Through personal experience, classical theological devices, and a fair bit of profanity, Kevin dives into some of the most common toxic belief patterns that are killing our communities, showing you how to undo them, and how to create new, better theology to lead you back to your spiritual authority.Bad Theology Kills is the first step on leaving behind a religion filled with fear and blossoming into a life and spirituality grounded in Love....Like many Evangelical Christians, Kevin grew up believing that being gay was a sin punishable by hell and social ex-communication. After 12 years of ex-gay therapy resulting in two suicide attempts, Kevin realized that God never would ask them to give up who they were, but rather God invited Kevin deeper into the heart of Love, deeper into who they always were meant to be. They realized that Love doesn't have to hurt, and that God was much bigger than anticipated.Through personal stories, fresh takes on old Bible stories, and employing trusted theological devices, Bad Theology Kills shows us not only can we craft new theologies that can redeem our faith, but we can save lives. Bad theology is killing all of us. And a better way is possible.

High Weirdness by Mail: A Directory of the Fringe-Mad Prophets, Crackpots, Kooks & True Visionaries
Ivan Stang - 1988
Coot cat Reverend Ivan Stang, high holy of the Church of the SubGenius, has compiled a bestiary of American creeps and crazies so that you can write to them and receive mail that is weird, horrible, wonderfully absurd, or a combination of all three. Each entry has a paragraph or two and the last known mailing address of some fringe loonies. The book is only current through 1988, though; the only thing wrong with it is that it's high time for an update--with URLs, of course. Let's see ... there are catalogs of perpetual motion machines; brochures from South American flying saucer cults; something called "The Battle Cry of Aggressive Christianity" (Christian, not likely--aggressive, you bet); and bizarre roundups such as "News of the Weird," the Church of Beaver Cleaver, and so on. What makes this book so funny is the author's willingness to list (and ridicule) any group, no matter how repulsive. This means, too, that High Weirdness contains a group to offend everyone; consider yourself warned. In fact, if you aren't offended by some of these groups, you must be pretty offensive yourself. So there.
Sailors of Stonehenge
Manuel Vega - 2012

"Manuel Vega has written an extraordinary book that turns history upside down." –Gavin Menzies, The Lost Empire of Atlantis "Remarkably well constructed… a trove of thoughtful information." –ND Wiseman, The Megalithic Portal "Reads like a vivid narration of the adventure that marked the origins of Civilization." –Anna Ntinti, Classicist "A superb work that anyone interested in the megalithic culture should read." –Manel Sancho, Old Civilizations' Blog "How come nobody thought of this before!" –Dr. Reinoud de Jonge, How the SunGod Reached America "Strongly recommended." –Eric Sargeant, Leyhunters Newsletter
