This book is full of color images from Sabertooth's fantastic collectable card game, depicting famous characters, places and warriors from the dim history of the Imperium. Also included are many of John Blanche's amazing concept sketches that did so much to inspire the other artists in their own work. The text accompanying all the art is written by Allan Merrett, who has been instrumental in creating the background that forms the basis of the Horus Heresy and the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Dick, and film design for Ridley Scott and Stanley Kubrick, this volume brings together many rare and classic images that have never been seen or reprinted before. The first comprehensive retrospective of Chris Foss’s SF career. “Chris Foss’ name has become pre-eminent among sf artists... He is in love with the monstrous, with angular momentum, with inertia-free projectiles and irresistable objects.” — Brian Aldiss “[Foss’] creations are real machines, not just an artist’s dreams.
