Management Wisdom of Lord Krishna: A Treatise on Unified Concept of Management Performance for the Globalised World
Udai Vir Singh - 2008
Hence, modern management minds have been looking for solutions beyond the reservoir of Western management thoughts and practices. They have examined and experimented with Japanese and Chinese systems of management. Of late, their focus has shifted to Indian philosophy to find solutions to re-occurring irritants in efficient management practices. As a step in this direction, Western management executives are being encouraged to put purpose before self during retraining sessions at institutions of management learning. Through Ved Vyasa's Bhagavad Gita, they are attempting to inspire themselves with the supremacy of action, learning to enrich matter with forces of spirit, realizing that the principle of karma has invaluable merits. The present work is a systematic presentation of the vital management contents as enshrined in Bhagavad Gita, the eternal Song of Wisdom. The book is a running treatise comprising principles, precepts, and practices employed by Lord Krishna to achieve his mission incarnate objectives, examining such qualities as: the dignity of work, commitment appreciations, strategic intervention, internal conflict --- management, and the management of uncertainties --- the skills of verbal and non-verbal communication, logic, and intellect --- the humility and ethicality of approach, respect for virtue and merit, skillful ego management, and total impartiality --- using energy as a management tool, the principle of causality, and the unified concept of management performance --- and much more

A Life Decoded: My Genome: My Life
J. Craig Venter - 2007
An unremarkable student, he nearly flunked out of high school. After being drafted into the army, he enlisted in the navy and went to Vietnam, where the life and death struggles he encountered as a medic piqued his interest in science and medicine. After pursuing his advanced degrees, Venter quickly established himself as a brilliant and outspoken scientist. In 1984 he joined the National Institutes of Health, where he introduced novel techniques for rapid gene discovery, and left in 1991 to form his own nonprofit genomics research center, where he sequenced the first genome in history in 1995. In 1998 he announced that he would successfully sequence the human genome years earlier, and for far less money, than the government-sponsored Human Genome Project would— a prediction he kept in 2001. A Life Decoded is the triumphant story of one of the most fascinating and controversial figures in science today. In his riveting and inspiring account Venter tells of the unparalleled drama of the quest for the human genome, a tale that involves as much politics (personal and political) as science. He also reveals how he went on to be the first to read and interpret his own genome and what it will mean for all of us to do the same. He describes his recent sailing expedition to sequence microbial life in the ocean, as well as his groundbreaking attempt to create synthetic life. Here is one of the key scientific chronicles of our lifetime, as told by the man who beat the odds to make it happen.

Stereochemistry of Organic Compounds: Principles and Applications
D. Nasipuri - 2011
* A large cross-section of organic reactions/mechanisms given with stereochemical implications. * Relationship between conformation and reactivity specially highlighted. * Instrumentation techniques relating to stereochemical investigation discussed in simple language.ABOUT THE BOOK:During recent years, stereochemistry has undergone a phenomenal growth both in theory and practice, with a concomitant increase of interest among the organic chemists, biological chemists, medicinal chemists, and pharmacologists. The present text provides an up-to-date, coherent, and comprehensive account of the subject starting from the fundamentals and leading up to the latest developments as far as practicable. Emphasis has been placed on a symmetry-based approach to molecular chirality, stereochemical terminologies (modern stereochemistry is replete with them), topicity and prostereoisomerism, conformational analysis, dynamic stereochemistry, chiroptical properties, and assignment of absolute configuration to chiral molecules. Dynamic stereochemistry has been discussed with reference to conformation-reactivity correlation, stereoselective synthesis, and pericyclic reactions. A large cross-section of organic reactions with stereochemical implication has been incorporated. Attempts have been made to familiarise the readers with modern instrumental techniques, nuclear magnetic resonance in particular, used for stereochemical investigation. Each chapter is provided with a summary which highlights the main points of the text. CONTENTS: * Molecular Geometry and Chemical Bonding * Molecular Symmetry and Chirality * Stereoisomerism: Definitions and Classifications * Stereoisomerism and Centre of Chirality * Stereoisomerism: Axial Chirality, Planar Chirality and Helicity * Topicity and Prostereoisomerism * Racemisation and Methods of Resolution * Determination of Configuration * Conformations of Acyclic Molecules * Conformations of Cyclic Systems: Monocyclic Compounds * Conformations of Cyclic Systems: Fused Ring and Bridged Ring Compounds * Dynamic Stereochemistry I: Conformation and Reactivity * Dynamic Stereochemistry II:Stereoselective Reactions * Dynamic Stereochemistry III:Pericyclic Reactions * Molecular Dissymmetry and Chiroptical Properties * Molecular Recognition: Chemical and Stereochemical AspectsREADERSHIP: * Graduate and postgraduate students of Chemistry courses * University and college libraries * Biochemists, Medical and Pharmacology students and other related professionalsNew Academic Science is a newly established Science, Technical and Medical publisher. We offer high level text and reference titles to the academic community.
