The Travelers

Lee Hunnicutt - 2016
He is a veteran who served three years in the Army, two of those years in the 8th Special Forces Airborne. He has written two time travel books, “The Travelers” and “The Travelers Book 2”, that begin in 1970 Panama Canal Zone and end up in 1870 Colorado. What the readers are saying about “The Travelers”: Nicole – I loved this book! I was hooked from the get-go and could NOT put this down! I ate it up and could not wait after one adventure to move on to the next! Roger – This book is a movie waiting to happen. It has everything: lots of action, all sorts of special effects, evil cowboys, noble Indians, resourceful young people, a strong female protagonist, and even a touch of romance at the end. Annabella – A really good story that all ages might enjoy reading. It would make a great movie. I am a senior citizen and couldn't wait to see what happened next. All the characters were interesting. I would like a continuance of this book written. Elizabeth – I read this book twice and am waiting impatiently for a sequel. Not since Outlander have I enjoyed a book more. If you like time travelers, adventure and a great story this is the book for you. Lou – Enjoyed the book. An entertaining trip. Vivian – I started slowly on this book, sort of trying to work out whether this was my kind of story. The further I got into it, the more difficult it was to take a break from it. When I turned the last page, there was an immediate "Oh, no!" moment. I couldn't believe there was no more left of the book. I wanted more! This was a well-researched book...well written, and well worth the read for any age from young teenager to adult.

Frederick Douglass: A Life From Beginning to End

Hourly History - 2017
Slavery is a dark spot in the history of the United States, a time when the rights of African-Americans were non-existent. Slaves were beaten, mutilated, raped, and killed with impunity. Their lives were a living hell from which death was the only escape they could dare to hope for. From this darkness, many heroes emerged, one of which was a man named Frederick Douglass. Born a slave in Maryland, Douglass believed he had found the key to the power of the white man—education. He taught himself to read and write, and then he proceeded to teach other slaves to read and write as well. Inside you will read about... ✓ On the Backs of Slaves: The Role of Slavery in the Economic Development of a New World ✓ Born into Slavery: Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey ✓ Escape to the North: Douglass’ escape and early life as a free man ✓ Equality and War: Douglass’ Work as a Free Man ✓ Suffrage and Service: Douglass’ Other Causes and Later Life And much more! As a slave, Frederick Douglass endured many cases of abuse and indignity while he waited to make his escape. On his third attempt, he finally succeeded, and once free, he proceeded to fight tirelessly throughout his life for the freedom and equality of all people. He was a true believer in the principles expressed in the Declaration of Independence and codified in the United States Constitution. He became a celebrated orator, writer, and statesman, and he was always an abolitionist. His work in this regard helped abolish slavery in all of the United States, and he fought passionately for the equality of all people regardless of race or sex throughout the whole of his life. He is a true American hero. This book tells the compelling story of his life in succinct, yet informative detail that is both educational and entertaining.

Developing Your Intuition: 5 Simple Steps To Help You Live a More Intuitive Life

Michael Hetherington - 2013
We all have the capacity for intuitive insight; in fact, intuition is already within us - whether we are aware of it or not. Having intuition doesn’t involve having psychic powers or having to visualize white lights coming out of our heads. These common “new age” style techniques are not at all necessary to develop our intuition. In some cases, these techniques further impair our capacity to be intuitive simply because it can add more clutter into our minds. Developing your intuition is not about adding more or wanting more, it’s about throwing things out and wanting less – when we have cultivated a healthy space within, we can hear, see and feel our intuition more clearly. This book will help you to understand what intuition is and why it is an important part of our lives. It will outline some very simple and progressive steps to take in order to de-clutter the mind so that you can become more aware and sensitive to your intuitive abilities.

Abraham Lincoln: Frontier Crusader For American Liberty

Michael Crawley - 2016
His profound and poetic speeches are famous around the world, evidence of the greatness of American’s most beloved leader. But did you know that the sixteenth president of the United States was also a backwoods hillbilly from America’s western frontier, with a Kentucky accent so thick you could cut it? Or that he liked wrestling matches, dirty jokes, and had a reputation for telling hilarious, R-rated stories that weren’t suitable for mixed company? From his childhood working as a virtual slave for an abusive father, to sailing a river raft to New Orleans, to the Illinois General Assembly, Congress, and the White House, the story of Abraham Lincoln’s life is the story of America. He mourned the deaths of almost everyone he loved, endured marriage to a wife whose mental health issues made her a domestic abuser, and lost more elections than he won. But Abraham Lincoln believed in one thing above all: that everyone deserved a fair shot at the American dream. Why did John Wilkes Booth really shoot Abraham Lincoln? The truth is as shocking now as it was in 1865.

The Early Church: From Ignatius to Augustine

George Hodges - 2007
But who were its leaders? And how did it survive through waves of hostility and oppression? George Hodges, in this fascinating history, explains how the early Church developed from its lowly and persecuted origins of the first century through to becoming the main religion of the Roman Empire and the various kingdoms that succeeded it. Hodges provides a full picture of the Roman Empire and its religion at this time, explaining how the Church was able to gain a foothold, how heresy nearly tore it apart and how many men and women sacrificed their own lives to protect the faith. He uncovers why by the third century the Church began to develop into a settled and definite organisation, with leaders, like Cyprian and Cyril, who assisted their followers, convened at gatherings like the Council of Nicaea to agree on doctrinal matters and how monasticism developed in both the East and West. Finally, Hodges explains how the Church was able survive the collapse of the Roman Empire, a state that had begun to protect and support the Church after Constantine’s conversion in 312. The Church was forced to contend with the power vacuum of the tumultuous fourth and fifth centuries and to make allies and convert the pagans who were threatening them. The Early Church: From Ignatius to Augustine is a brilliant history of the late Roman Empire and how the Christian Church developed within it. George Hodges was an American theologian and dean of the Episcopal Theological School at Cambridge Massachusetts. The Independent stated that many of his works were reissued during his lifetime due to “the high esteem in which his religious messages are held by the reading public." This work was first published in 1915 and he died in 1919.
