In retaliation, Doksooma launches an attack that unfortunately seems to inadvertently kill Makumrang. While Doksooma stands over his surrogate son's body in shock, Darkling seizes the opportunity and kills him, as well. But just as the demon is about to claim the Sword of Kwangma for his master, the sword awakens the Kwangma Devil within Makumrang, reviving him with immense power. Makumrang/ The Kwangma Devil then kills Darkling. Meanwhile, the battle between Barurugo, Soma, General Winter and Fat Ninja continues. Barurugo appears to be unstoppable, despite our heroes' best efforts to put him down. But then General Summer (a.k.a. Granny), astride her powerful flying bird Manle Youngjo, arrives at the last moment to give Soma the Blade of Heaven journal, which allows him to unlock the sword's power. The effect is immediate and devastating, as Soma and the Blade become as one, unleashing a devastating energy that nearly destroys them all. His body completely drained from this attack, Soma lies unconscious while our heroes are chased through the sky by Barurugo. Riddled with guilt, General Spring and Autumn sacrifice their lives to stop Barurugo, but still he manages to survive. Soma's rage awakens him once again, and he unleashes another attack. This one does the trick, and Barurugo is finally killed. Beaten Beaten and battered, and with Soma now in a coma, the gang returns to the 1000 Year Tree Village to find it in ruins and all its denizens dead. There they also find Ryuha (Chaeha's sister) morning the loss of her village and family. They rest there for three days, worriedly monitoring Soma and the wounded General Winter, as well. The peace doesn't last long, however, as they are attacked by an army of villager zombies and bug monsters-all under the control of Wulyohon, the fourth demon disciple of Machunroo, who seeks the Blade of Heaven as well. Makumrang arrives to help fight off the creatures, but is attacked by Ryuha and Fat Ninja, who mistakenly believes he is the one that murdered Ryuha's family. Meanwhile, General Winter attempts to protect the Princess from the creatures, but is killed in the process. General Summer mentally bonds with Chaeha's zombie, and learns that it was Darkling that destroyed the village and killed everyone. She promptly tells Ryuha and Fat Ninja this, and they all refocus their attacks on Wulyohon. Sensing danger, the Blade uses Soma's unconscious body as a vessel to fight Wulyohon, but General Summer states that if it isn't stopped, the Blade will kill him. Wulyohon mortally wounds Makumrang, which once again triggers the Kwangma Devil. While the Princess, General Summer and the others mourn the death of General Winter, Soma/Blade of Heaven chases down and kills the fleeing Wulyohon. It is then that the Blade, sensing the evil in Makumrang, begins to fight Makumrang/ the Kwangma Devil.
