Love Money, Money Loves You

Sarah McCrum - 2013
“What does money want to say to you?” She started writing a response and found words coming out of her pen that weren’t her own. They started with, “I want you to love me.” She was deeply touched, and intrigued to explore more about the source of this message. She went on to write in the same way every day for 3 months and ended up with a collection of surprising, funny and inspiring advice, apparently from the energy of money itself. Those writings turned into this book. It takes you into the heart of the world of money, but not into financial systems as they exist on this planet. Rather it gives you an insight into how the money energy operates behind our physical world. It shows you what happens when you make any financial request and explains why so many people struggle with lack of money. It gives clear, simple guidelines on how to transform your relationship with money so you can be aligned with the way it works naturally, including two blueprints for making money in today's world. It's funny at times, very uplifting and enlightening in surprising ways, offering a view of money unlike anything we've seen elsewhere. Perhaps the most radical discovery in these writings is the sense that money is not a neutral energy that we can make good or bad decisions about. It is a truly benign, loving energy that is always available for us. This challenges many of our preconceived notions about money and invites us into a profoundly different relationship with it.“Reading Love Money was like looking at one of those visual puzzles – you are used to seeing it the way it first appears, but when you see the alternative picture you can never unsee it. The new perspective changes everything. As I read this book I was inspired to co-create a business that has brought all my values and priorities to the surface for examination and change. It has grown me and changed me for the better. I’ve been held to a higher standard to create things that are truly valuable, financially, socially, ecologically. If you are ready to learn how to work with money so that it nourishes and satisfies your mind, heart, eye, soul and wallet, read this and begin.”Tim Bennett, Co-founder of LOVE TO"Love Money", brings joyful and fresh insights that have transformed my relationship with money into a deeply loving, intimate, and personalized communion with an awesome best friend."Bob Beth, tech entrepreneurIn “Love Money, Money Loves You”, Money speaks: challenging your misconceptions about money, releasing your power, and offering conscious partnership in creating a world that works for all. This slim book is a vital asset. It has transformed my relationship with money." Anne Stadler

A transition into retirement can be scary. Control Your Retirement Destiny equips you with the knowledge you'll need to avoid big mistakes while optimizing the flow of funds to support the retirement you've always dreamed of. Easy Money: Evolution of Money from Robinson Crusoe to the First World War

Vivek Kaul - 2013
Books on the current financial crisis which started in late 2008 are a tad like that. Until now they have tended to deal with certain aspects of the crisis without looking at the bigger picture of what really went wrong. That bigger picture of the ongoing financial crisis has now started to evolve. Easy Money captures this big picture. The history of money and the financial system as it has evolved over the centuries stand at the heart of this endeavor. It explores the idea that the evolution of money over centuries has led to an easy money policy being followed by governments and central banks across the world, which in turn has fueled humongous Ponzi schemes, which have now started to unravel, bringing the whole world on the brink of a financial disaster. The book also explains how the lessons of the financial crisis have still not been learned, and in trying to deal with it, governments across the world are making the same mistakes which led to the current crisis in the first place.

Confessions of a CPA: The Truth About Life Insurance

Bryan S. Bloom - 2013
If you carefully read and absorb the financial principles of life insurance uncovered in this book, you will understand as well. There is a finite amount of knowledge that humans know about the universe. All of this known information falls into three categories: First, there is a certain amount of information that we know and that we are aware that we know. We could say that we are “consciously competent” of this information. Second, there is a large amount of information that we know nothing about. We know that there are certain fields or concepts "out there," but we really don't know anything about them. We might say that we are “consciously incompetent” of this information. The third category of knowledge represents information we don't know, and we’re not even aware that we don't know it. We are "unconsciously incompetent" in these areas. It doesn't mean that the information doesn't exist; it just means that we are currently unaware of its existence. As a result, this information currently sits in our "blind spots." Just like in our cars, there are some things we don’t see that others do. But if we just turn our head 20 degrees, we will see things we have never seen before. This book will help you to turn your head 20 degrees and to discover something wonderful that you have never seen before. Victor Hugo (author of Les Misérables) once said: “all the forces in the world are not so powerful as an idea whose time has come.”

Rethinking Money: How New Currencies Turn Scarcity into Prosperity

Bernard A. Lietaer - 2013
In fact, there are thousands of ways to solve not only our recurring fiscal crises but our ongoing social and ecological debacles as well. Solutions are already in place where terrible problems once existed. The changes came about not through increased conventional taxation, enlightened self-interest, or government programs but by people simply rethinking the concept of money. With this restructuring, everything changes. In this visionary book, Bernard Lietaer and Jacqui Dunne explore the origins of our current monetary system—built on bank debt and scarcity—revealing the surprising and sometimes shocking ways its unconscious limitations give rise to so many serious problems. But there is hope. The authors present stories of ordinary people and their communities using new money, working in cooperation with national currencies, to strengthen local economies, create work, beautify cities, and provide education—and so much more is possible. These real-world examples are just the tip of the iceberg—over 4,000 cooperative currencies are already in existence. The book provides remedies for challenges faced by governments, businesses, nonprofits, local communities, and even banks. It demystifies a complex and critically important topic and will strike a deep chord with readers eager to find innovative, meaningful solutions that will do far more than restore prosperity—it will provide the framework for an era of sustainable abundance.

"A valuable and effective tool!"Mark McKeller, HomeVestors, Inc.From the AuthorI've taught the A to Zs of Buying a Franchise for more than 25 years at the International Franchise Expo and at franchise conferences in many countries, and it never fails that I get this question: "What are the hot franchises to buy today?" I always smile and say, "Buying a hot franchise is the fastest way to get burned!" The audience laughs, but still, they want to buy a "hot" franchise. And since I believe in helping customers get what they want, I decided to write Buy "Hot" Franchises Without Getting Burned, A Checklist For Your Franchising Success.Of course, the broader message is that you can buy any type of franchise without getting "burned" and that's especially true if you follow a systematic approach to exploring and evaluating franchises. In this book, I've delivered that systematic approach. No one can guarantee your success in franchising, but you can do much to insure that you select a franchise that will reward you appropriately, both personally and financially. Give yourself an opportunity to explore the possibilities in franchising . . . there are 75 different industries in the USA using franchising for business development . . . those industries support nearly 3,000 different franchise concepts . . . there's a good chance at least one of those concepts will excite you. Many franchises cost less than $25,000 to start -- some less than $10,000 -- and many franchises can be operated from home or a small office. Other franchises cost more than $250,000 to start and require stand-alone buildings, or stores in strip centers and malls. What matters most is that you discover what's best for you. You can use Buy "Hot" Franchises Without Getting Burned to find out, and to find a franchise brand that's a good fit for you. By any definition, when you do that, that's a "hot" franchise!

Right on the Money

Douglas R. Casey - 2013
Casey believes that the best returns come from going against the grain, and taking a closer look at what everyone else is leaving behind. With his usual candor, he advocates for immediate action and lays down the path from idea to investment. Regardless of your position on each topic, you'll be forced to consider a perspective you've never before considered on topics such as:Protecting your assets with educated speculation The pros and cons of gold, cattle, and real estate Ethics of investing and the morality of money The impact of the EU, Africa, Egypt, and North Korea No matter what topic he focuses on, Casey's primary message is always clear: act now. In Right on the Money: Doug Casey on Economics, Investing, and the Ways of the Real World with Louis James, Casey presents the case for investing against the grain, and reaping the rewards others have passed over.

The Banking Swindle: Money Creation and the State

Kerry Bolton - 2013
Rather, this is a book intended to explain in a straight-forward manner the way private banking interests - which have no loyalty to anything other than to greed - create credit and money as profit-making commodities which has driven individuals, businesses and entire states to ruin through debt. As importantly, The Banking Swindle examines the many communities and states that have rejected the fraudulent banking system, and sometimes had to fight to do so, and brought prosperity where there was destitution, by taking issuing money and credit for their legitimate purpose: as mere tokens for the exchange of goods and work, debt-free. The Banking Swindle is unique also in regard to its coming from the 'Right', and redefining the 'Right' with precision, after decades of having been misinterpreted by both the Left and Classical Liberals as being synonymous, especially in the English-speaking world, with Free Market Capitalism, which it is not, and never has been. Indeed, as The Banking Swindle shows, drawing on such thinkers as Oswald Spengler from the Right, and Karl Marx himself from the Left, Free Market Capitalism is subversive and anti-conservative. The Banking Swindle shows that historically it has been the Right that has fought Usury, that it was Rightist parties that offered clear policies on overthrowing the power of the bankers. The Right has largely forgotten this background, at the very time when policies are needed to address the world's Number One issue: Debt.

Thinking with Water

Cecilia Chen - 2013
At the same time, water issues are among the most troubling ecological and social concerns of our time. Water is often studied only as a "resource," a quantifiable and instrumentalized substance. Thinking with Water instead invites readers to consider how water - with its potent symbolic power, its familiarity, and its unique physical and chemical properties - is a lively collaborator in our ways of knowing and acting. What emerges is both a rich opportunity to encourage more thoughtful environmental engagement and a challenge to common oppositions between nature and culture. Drawing from a pool of contributors with diverse backgrounds, Thinking with Water presents the work of critics, scholars, artists, and poets in an invitation to pay more attention to the aqueous aspects of our lives. Contributors include: Ælab (Gisèle Trudel, UQÀM and Stéphane Claude, Oboro), Stacy Alaimo (University of Texas at Arlington), Andrew Biro (Acadia University), Mielle Chandler (York University), Cecilia Chen (Concordia University), Dorothy Christian (University of British Columbia), Adam Dickinson (poet, Brock University), Max Haiven (Nova Scotia College of Art and Design), Janine MacLeod (York University), Daphne Marlatt (poet, British Columbia), Don McKay (poet, Newfoundland), Emily Rose Michaud (Artist, Wakefield, Qc.), Astrida Neimanis (Linköping University), Sarah Renshaw (artist, Rhode Island), Shirley Roburn (Concordia University), Melanie Siebert (poet, University of Victoria), Jennifer B. Spiegel (Concordia University), Veronica Strang (Durham, UK), Rae Staseson (Concordia University), Rita Wong (Emily Carr University of Art and Design), and Peter C. van Wyck (Concordia University).

The Buck Pass

T.R. Whittier - 2013
The psychologically-impoverished heiress, the homeless housewife, the closed-minded artist, the car-hating cab driver, the down-to-earth rising star, and the paternally-challenged stay-at-home dad have nothing in common other than the fact that they are miserable. Their lives are filled with problems, but their heads are void of solutions. It is only after coming in contact with a certain piece of enigmatic currency that they find their way to happiness. Inspired by the etymology of the phrase “buck passing,” which recounts that an object (known as a “buck”) was passed during early poker games as a means of indicating which player's turn it was to deal the cards, The Buck Pass is the story of a single dollar bill that acts as an agent of chance and change. Rather than deal the cards, however, the protagonists of The Buck Pass find themselves encouraged to deal inadvertently with their problems – to follow their hearts, leave their mark, and, like the dollar, move on. The Buck Pass – it doesn't stop here.

The Master Key System, Think and Grow Rich, and The Science of Getting Rich Combined Edition

Napoleon Hill - 2013
Haanel (1866-1949) that was originally published as a 24-week correspondence course in 1912. It was later published in book form in 1916 by Psychology Publishing, St. Louis and The Master Key Institute, New York. The course is a "practical wrapper" for the seven hermetic principles as laid out in the Kybalion. Each chapter contains a sequentially numbered section to read, which includes an exercise towards the end, followed by a section with questions and answers. Along with "The Science of Getting Rich", by Wallace D. Wattles, the Master Key System is the source of Rhonda Byrne's inspiration for the book and the film "The Secret" (2006).[1][2] Charles F. Haanel was an American author, millionaire, entrepreneur, and businessman who belonged to the Masonic society, Keystone Lodge No. 243, A.F. & A.M., the American Scientific League, The Author’s League of America, The American Society of Psychical Research, the St. Louis Humane Society, and the St. Louis Chamber of Commerce. Think and Grow Rich is a 1937 motivational personal development and self-help book by Napoleon Hill and inspired by a suggestion from Scottish-American businessman Andrew Carnegie. While the title implies that this book deals with how to get rich, the author explains that the philosophy taught in the book can be used to help people succeed in all lines of work and to do or be almost anything they want. Jim Murray (sportswriter) wrote that Think and Grow Rich was credited for Ken Norton's boxing upset of Muhammad Ali in 1973. The Reverend Charles Stanley writes, "I began to apply the principles of (Think and Grow Rich) to my endeavors as a pastor, and I discovered they worked!" The book was first published during the Great Depression. At the time of Hill's death in 1970, Think and Grow Rich had sold more than 20 million copies and by 2011 over 70 million copies had been sold worldwide. It remains the biggest seller of Napoleon Hill's books. BusinessWeek Magazine's Best-Seller List ranked it the sixth best-selling paperback business book 70 years after it was published. Think and Grow Rich is listed in John C. Maxwell's A Lifetime "Must Read" Books List. The Science of Getting Rich is a book written by the New Thought Movement writer Wallace D. Wattles and published in 1910 by the Elizabeth Towne Company. The book is still in print after 100 years. It was a major inspiration for Rhonda Byrne's bestselling book and film The Secret (2006). According to USA Today, the text is "divided into 17 short, straight-to-the-point chapters that explain how to overcome mental barriers, and how creation, not competition, is the hidden key to wealth attraction."

Take Back Your Money: A Survival Guide For The Next Recession, The One After That, and The One After That

John E. Girouard - 2013
Girouard asks: "It's your money, but who controls it?" If you’re like most Americans, he says, the answer is everyone but you. It wasn’t always so. Until the 1970s, people who were planning for their golden years said they were saving for retirement, not investing for it. There’s a big difference and the Great Recession punished millions for forgetting that a bird in the hand–saving–is always worth more than two in the bush–investing. So what do we do now? How can we get back control of our money? How can we avoid the same trap next time, since history teaches us there will always be another next time? Drawing on three decades as an investment adviser, Girouard challenges every popular assumption about saving and preserving money, because most are flawed. He explains in plain English how Wall Street persuaded millions to gamble on the future while failing to expect the unexpected, and how to avoid being caught in the same trap next time, because there will always be a next time. There will always be crashes, panics, disasters, meltdowns, and so on, yet we speak of them as anomalies. No matter how sophisticated the world’s financial markets become, and no matter how many regulations government imposes, there will always be a financial crisis in our future. Most lives are marked by a series of financial challenges and crises—buying or selling a home, college tuition, supporting relatives in need, legal expenses, medical bills, unemployment, death, and so on. Yet few people plan their financial lives to be ready for crisis. Instead, they plan for success, often based on somebody else’s estimate of future returns. When things fail to pan out, as they so often do, they’re left wondering, ”What do I do now?” Girouard's answer, with specifics, is to take back your money from the institutions that gambled with it and put it in investment vehicles that you control in institutions that are depositor owned.

Real Estate Primer

William L. Mansfield - 2013
It is hoped that both the new licensee and old-hands looking for a new start will find in this text a refreshing perspective on the various topics covered.Rather than a rehash of real estate practices, this book is intended to be a “how to” book. Social Security Income Planning: The Baby Boomer's Guide to Maximize Your Retirement Benefits

Mark J. Orr - 2013
It is written by an experienced Certified Financial Planner for soon-to-be retirees who want to learn all about the different claiming strategies for couples and for single persons (whether never married, divorced or widowed). Most people have no idea of what some their real benefit options are -- and unfortunately can be prone to miss out on $10,000’s.Before describing what readers will find in the book, let me point out that there is purposely nothing written about Social Security DISABILITY income payments or Supplemental Security Income (SSI). The book’s sole purpose is to provide people who are about to retire, with all of the information that they need to make the best Social Security benefit decisions based on their own financial circumstances and retirement goals. In this respect it is an essential planning guide and road map.A quick scan of the table of contents gives a glimpse of the scope and amount of powerful information provided. However, what the table of contents does not show is how 95% of Social Security recipients (both couples and many singles) will leave up to $50,000 of benefits sitting on the table that cannot be retrieved. This is money that they are fully entitled to, but these folks did not follow the little-known claiming strategies described in this book. It’s your money, you paid into the system your whole life – so don’t miss out on getting every dollar that you can. There are many useful examples given to show baby boomers the full range of their filing options and how to maximize their lifetime benefits. Written in plain English, these examples are meant to encourage you to carefully consider how you can get the most total benefits available under the law.Perhaps one of the most unique portions of the book is where the author combines his expertise of Social Security with his knowledge of income taxes to show readers how it is very possible to cut ones taxable income and their subsequent retirement income tax bill by 50%. The story comparing the Early’s, the Waite’s and the Best’s is worth ten times the price of the book, as it explains how a savvy reader can save $1,000’s of income tax dollars each year during their retirement. The chapter about the 3 buckets of investment risk and the 3 taxation buckets is the perfect complement to learning about filing strategies since Social Security was never meant to provide for all one’s retirement income. Not only is this discussion vital for soon-to-be retirees, it should be required reading for every American adult before they EVER invest a single dime anywhere.Don’t let the low cost of the book fool you. While reading the book, it becomes very apparent that Mr. Orr actually works in the retirement income planning field on a daily basis with the non-stop tips, warnings, things to consider and much more. Everything is discussed in “real world” terms, not useless academic theory. “Social Security Income Planning” is well organized, concise and written in a conversational style, yet it’s jam-packed with all the information you need to maximize your Social Security benefits. The advanced concepts and planning strategies are made so simple, that you will be able to explain them to your co-workers... or even to your financial advisor (who very likely has just a vague understanding of the strategies you are talking about)! Finally, the book rightfully stresses how your decision to file for your Social Security benefits should not be made on a “standalone basis”.

How to Be Rich and Extraordinary : The Best of Wallace D. Wattles

Wallace D. Wattles - 2013
The books are:-How to get what you want-The Science of Getting Rich-The Science of Being Well- The Science of Being Great-A New Christ.- Jesus, the man and it works.Wallace D. Wattles is the name that almost all modern motivational writers –including the author of “The Secret”, mention as source of inspiration. A hundred years ago, he wrote these life-guides to “get rich”, but doing so in a way that also make you into an extraordinary human being.Revelation after revelation contained in these beautiful pages, you will understand things with clarity you never achieved before. Modern authors prescribe us Wallace's thoughts and ideas, but they do so in a recycled and contaminated way, through versions that miss the essence. Most concentrate in his ideas on making money, but lose sight of the “why”, which he describes with mastery.Wallace sought a complete human being, healthy, purposeful, living in harmony with family and peers, and rich enough to enjoy ALL that is good in life. The Wisdom of Wallace, his philosophy and his way of expressing it, are a universal treasure that could certainly contribute to getting us closer to the eternal truth. The truth that there is SOMETHING beyond our understanding which we call many names, that is in all things and in all of us, whether we are rich or poor, religious or not religious.Read these books with an open mind. Once you finish, and if you have read them with attention, meditating on its sentences full of wisdom, you will certainly be a better human being, in your way to wealth and to be extraordinary.

Spoz and Friends: Tales of a London Medical Student

Grahame C.W. Howard - 2013
From his initial interview at St Thomas' Hospital - an institution he chose because he had never heard of it and on that rather dubious basis thought he was more likely to be accepted - to his final exams, the book documents the author's painful progress as an immature seventeen-year-old away from home for the first time. Sexually naïve, he devotes much of his time attempting to lose his virginity, while his excessive beer-drinking hampers his success and results in several awkward brushes with the London constabulary. Chronically impecunious and homeless for several months, Spoz devises various hair-brained money-making schemes and ultimately has to take extensive time out of his studies to work on a nearby building site. From there he witnesses the bombing of Westminster Palace by the IRA, while his absenteeism from classes almost results in a premature end to his already unpromising career. While always infused with the author's characteristic humour, the Tales of Spoz offer the reader a more serious yet unobtrusive social commentary on the problems of being a student in that era, charting the often tortuous transition of a group of young men from immature schoolboys to responsible young doctors.

Creating Climate Wealth: Unlocking the Impact Economy

Jigar Shah - 2013
Author Jigar Shah, internationally recognized for revolutionizing the now multi-billion-dollar solar energy industry, outlines how entrepreneurs and investors can unlock the massive potential that climate change represents. Shah argues that, while new technical innovation is valuable, deployment of existing technologies are the key to reaching our near-term climate targets. Rather than waiting for yet to be developed technology, business model innovation is the key to attract mainstream capital and unlock transformational change. Shah makes a compelling case for reaching our 2020 climate change goals through 100,000 companies worldwide, each generating $100 million in sales. Unlocking our next economy will be driven by thousands of companies deploying existing clean and resource-efficient technologies in electricity-supply (like solar), transportation, building materials, industry, forestry, waste, and agriculture. Shah is not alone; according to the International Energy Agency, and others, $10 trillion can be invested profitably—today—in the world’s existing technologies, making Shah’s plan of 100,000 companies each generating $100 million in sales a reality in catalyzing a new economy in the process. Creating Climate Wealth is also the personal story of Shah’s journey through the solar industry and the founding of SunEdison, the world’s largest solar energy company. Through business model innovations, SunEdison helped trigger the multi-billion dollar solar energy services industry. Shah’s revolutionary approach has been emulated throughout the solar industry. But perhaps more important, it is also being adapted for other industrial sectors like agriculture and transportation – unlocking incredible new revenue streams, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs, and positively transforming the planet on a global level. This implementation of business-based solutions to solve complex social problems represents a new economic movement; driven by “Impact Investments.” Impact Investments are changing the world for the better, promoting development and economic growth, and encouraging local entrepreneurship. Unlocking these opportunities represent the largest wealth creation opportunity of our generation. Whether you are interested in climate change, poverty alleviation, or just promoting projects that make financial sense, this book is for you. Jigar Shah provides a proven roadmap to understanding the Impact Economy, and creating the lasting changes that will improve our world for future generations.

Financing the Flames: How Tax-Exempt and Public Money Fuel a Culture of Confrontation and Terror in Israel

Edwin Black - 2013
In a far-flung investigation in the United States, Israel and the West Bank, human-rights investigative reporter Edwin Black documents that it is actually the highly politicized human rights organizations and NGOs themselves—all American taxpayer supported—which are financing the flames that make peace in Israel difficult if not impossible. Black spotlights key charitable organizations such as the Ford Foundation, George Soros’s Open Society Foundations, the New Israel Fund, and many others, as well as American taxpayers as a group. Instead of promoting peace and reconciliation between Arabs and Israelis, a variety of taxpayer-subsidized organizations have funded a culture where peace does not pay, but warfare and confrontation do. Ironically, several Jewish organizations, scooping up millions in tax-subsidized donations, stand at the forefront of the problem. At the same time, the author details at great length the laudable and helpful activities of such groups as the New Israel Fund; he chronicles a heartbreaking conflict between stated intent and true impact on the ground. In addition to documenting questionable 501(c)(3) activity, Black documents the direct relationship between taxpayer assistance to the Palestinian Authority and individuals engaged in terrorism against civilians.

THE LAW OF FINANCIAL SUCCESS (Timeless Wisdom Collection Book 174)

William Walker Atkinson - 2013
Ten years later, William Walker Atkinson published, also in Chicago (his home base), the Personal Power Series, coauthored with this “Edward E. Beals”. We have searched everywhere for information on Beals, but there is nothing, except in relation to his "work" with Atkinson. Therefore, WE DO BELIEVE AND SUSTAIN that Edward E. Beals is William Walker Atkinson, using an alias This thesis is new. But after editing over 50 of Atkinson books, we cannot help but noticing the similar styles, the use of certain key words and phrases, and the citing of the same authors. Also, just one year after this book, Atkinson published, also in CHICAGO, Thought are Things, under yet another alias: Edward WALKER (another EDWARD!). The subjects of these two books are related. Knowing Atkinson and his love for aliases (he wrote over 100 books, under almost 10 different names), it actually makes a lot of sense. It also helps to explain why -if this was such a good book, a best seller of it time-, there was no follow up, except the Personal Power Series, an extraordinary collection, by Atkinson “and” Beals. The funny story here is that some of the aliases where more popular and sold more books than Atkinson himself. This book by Beals was EXTREMELY popular, sold tens of thousands of copies, and that is why, we think, Atkinson decided to profit from Beals “fame” to include him as “coauthor” of his Personal Power Series. This way, the books will have two power names behind, and sell more (as they did!). Atkinson was a genius in marketing, as well as in everything else (that’s why we love his books!!!). This is a VERY GOOD BOOK on success, and complements some of the other excellent Atkinson books. A book for enjoyment, learning, and, if you apply the great advice provided, FOR SUCCESS!
