    The stories recounts the life of times of the hero Domrudhar in colonial India. The protagonist Domrudhar is portrayed as a dishonest man who rises from a lowly shop-assistant to a land owner.

    Otherwise, our routine life goes on as it is. Actually, our minds are prepared for the traumas of life, but then we come across someone who sees us through it. But this very mind set of ours is not at all prepared for the small traumas in daytoday life, which actually have the utmost power of disaster. They attack separately while we are alone and take out liveliness from our mind and soul. We have to suffer alone, there is no one to come along with us. A human mind thus attacked, gets terribly upset, his courage fails him, he then pauses for some time, rests for a while and once again gathers his strength with new hope and desire. No one notices his tiredness, no one detects his recovering. His journey continues. Everyone has to continue his or her own journey, sometimes falling and then getting up, with a new hope every time, with a glance at the past over and over, the journey has to be continued. This is a glimpse of such sufferings, of those walking and trudging, by you and of course by me!!!

    The character sketches in this collection are not only tales in the old mould, but also have the magical quality that touches upon the very essence of Life. The characters are genuinely Marathi in nature, and they have been drawn with the ease with which dawn turns into day or a bud blossoms into a flower.     And at the same time, it is but natural that you are not aware of the experiences I have gone through on a personal level. I also agree that it is not possible to put all my experiences in words. But still I would like to share some of the personal experiences which have the potential of some social cause or the other. I find it my duty to present these experiences before you. Actually, every human being who lives his or her life with open eyes and mind possesses such experiences, but not everybody takes the initiative to make them public. To be frank, you do not have to be born as an author to be able to share your experiences. Some of the experiences themselves have the immense strength of touching the minds, capturing the society; they do not need any so called author to put them into words. You do not have to take any trouble to be a writer, such experience itself starts flowing down in the form of writing. At the end, I would just suggest one thing; do not get tangled in the feelings, just keep in your mind that you want to be happy, the words will automatically follow. Va Pu.
