Today, Thomas Ashley-Farrand—one of the foremost authorities on Vedic and Buddhist Sanskrit mantras in the West—makes these sacred sounds widely available.According to traditional practice, "When you begin to chant these ancient formulas," teaches Ashley-Farrand, "the petals on the chakras begin to resonate, and they begin to pull in minute amounts of spiritual energy." Over days, weeks, and months, larger and larger amounts of energy accumulate bringing health, radiance, and eliminating karma, which allows desires to be fulfilled.

Full Catastrophe Living: Using the Wisdom of Your Body and Mind to Face Stress, Pain, and Illness
Jon Kabat-Zinn - 1990
(The somewhat confusing title is from a line in Zorba the Greek in which the title character refers to the ups and downs of family life as "the full catastrophe.") But this book is also a terrific introduction for anyone who has considered meditating but was afraid it would be too difficult or would include religious practices they found foreign. Kabat-Zinn focuses on "mindfulness," a concept that involves living in the moment, paying attention, and simply "being" rather than "doing." While you can practice anything "mindfully," from taking a walk to cleaning your house, Kabat-Zinn presents several meditation techniques that focus the attention most clearly, whether it's on a simple phrase, your breathing, or various parts of your body. The book goes into detail about how hospital patients have either improved their health or simply come to feel better despite their illness by using these techniques, but these meditations can help anyone deal with stress and gain a calmer outlook on life. "When we use the word healing to describe the experiences of people in the stress clinic, what we mean above all is that they are undergoing a profound transformation of view," Kabat-Zinn writes. "Out of this shift in perspective comes an ability to act with greater balance and inner security in the world." --Ben Kallenreissue 2005

There are people whose heart doesn’t close to anyone, no matter what someone looks like or how someone acts or how different he or she is, because they see beyond the person’s disguise to what is Real. The Real—the divine Self—is apparent in everyone if we choose to look for it. It’s easier to see it in some people than in others, but it can be seen in the eyes of anyone. The eyes are where it is most easily seen. Everyone knows what it looks like, although not everyone looks for it or chooses to see it.”Download this and other spiritual ebooks for free here:http://endless-satsang.com/free-spiri...

Warrior Pose: How Yoga (Literally) Saved My Life
Brad Willis - 2013
But when mortal danger came, it was from an unexpected direction. At the pinnacle of his career, a broken back and failed surgery left Willis permanently disabled and condemned to life in a body brace. Then came a diagnosis of terminal, stage IV throat cancer from exposure to depleted uranium on the battlefield. At his 50th birthday party, friends gathered around Willis, who was crippled, mute, muddled on narcotic medications, depressed, and dying. It was only halfway through the celebration that Willis realized the party's true purpose—his friends were there to say a final goodbye.Everyone knew Willis was on his way out … everyone except his 2-year-old son, who one day tearfully urged, "Get up, Daddy!” Willis desperately wanted to "get up,” but with so much stacked against him, he felt helpless and lost. His son’s words ringing in his ears and tugging at his heart, Willis ultimately chose to abandon the Western medicine that had failed him and embrace the most ancient and esoteric practices of Yoga, becoming a warrior for self-healing and personal transformation. As a symbol of his journey, he took the spiritual name, Bhava Ram, which stands for Living from the Heart.” His cancer gone and his body fully restored, Bhava Ram demonstrates not only the power of non-Western medicine to heal the body, mind and the soul, but the capacity within us all to take charge of our lives and overcome even the greatest of obstacles.Warrior Pose is an unforgettable story about the power of love between father and son, a memoir from the front lines of the most momentous events of our times, a transformational journey of self-healing, and an inspiration to all who seek inner peace and wholeness.
