     After the TET offensive of 1968, the North Vietnamese Army forces fled back to their base camps in the jungle covered mountains where they lived, trained and prepared their attacks. As the Marines swept along a river, the point platoon rappelled down a waterfall that then separated them from the main body of the Marine force.
