The Twelfth Imam Collection
Joel C. Rosenberg - 2014
At extreme personal risk, Shirazi undertakes his assignment. A native Farsi speaker whose family escaped from Iran in 1979, he couldn’t be better prepared for the mission. But none of his training has prepared Shirazi for what will happen next. An obscure religious cleric is suddenly hailed throughout the region as the Islamic messiah known as the Mahdi or the Twelfth Imam. News of his miracles, healings, signs, and wonders, spread like wildfire, as do rumors of a new and horrific war. With the prophecy of the Twelfth Imam seemingly fulfilled, Iran’s leaders prepare to strike Israel and bring about the End of Days. Shirazi must take action, but the clock is ticking. The Tehran Initiative: The world is on the brink of disaster, and the clock is ticking. Iran has just conducted its first atomic weapons test. Millions of Muslims around the world are convinced their messiah—known as the Twelfth Imam—has just arrived on earth. Israeli leaders fear Tehran, under the Twelfth Imam’s spell, will soon launch a nuclear attack that could bring about a second Holocaust and the annihilation of Israel. The White House fears Jerusalem will strike first, launching a preemptive attack against Iran’s nuclear facilities that could cause the entire Middle East to go up in flames, oil prices to skyrocket, and the global economy to collapse. With the stakes high and few viable options left, the president of the United States orders CIA operative David Shirazi and his team to track down and sabotage Iran’s nuclear warheads before Iran or Israel can launch a devastating first strike.Damascus Countdown: 2014 “Christian Retailing’s Best” award finalist! All eyes are on the Middle East. U.S. President William Jackson threatens to support a U.N. Security Council resolution condemning the Jewish State for unprovoked and unwarranted acts of aggression. Meanwhile, CIA operative David Shirazi has infiltrated the Iranian regime and intercepted information indicating that two Iranian nuclear warheads survived the attack and have been moved to a secure and undisclosed location. The March: A Forgotten Legion short story
Ben Kane - 2018
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A SHORT STORY, NOT A FULL LENGTH NOVEL. ABOUT THE SHORT STORY’S PRICE: Hello, you lovely people. Odd to talk about money straight up, but I know that some of you might be thinking, £2.49 is a lot for a short story. Let me explain how it works. A rate of 20% VAT (Value Added Tax) applies to eBooks in the UK. This doesn’t apply to ‘real’ paper books. That means 42p of the £2.49 goes straight to the British government. Amazon takes around 5p to deliver the story to your Kindle, then takes another 61p as its cut. The remainder, £1.41, goes in the ratio 75% to Park in the Past* – that’s £1.06 for each story sold – and 25% to me, which means I will get 35p. Not much, but it’s just to cover my time. Once the figures are broken down, the total price doesn’t seem that high, to me at least. I hope you agree. Think of it in terms of a pint of beer or a cup of coffee: they cost £2-4, depending on where you live. This story will give you more enjoyment (I think!) than either of those things, and last for a longer time, and cost you less money. Plus you’re helping to build a Roman fort in Britain, the likes of which has not been seen in almost two millennia! *Park in the Past is an extraordinary project in northwest Britain – near Chester, just over the border in Wales. Set on a 120 acre site in the beautiful Welsh countryside, it aims to build a second century AD Roman marching fort. I’ve managed to raise more than £20,000 for the project, but as you can appreciate a lot more is needed. Please visit the Park’s site at www.parkinthepast.org.uk – and donate if you can. Even a small donation makes a huge difference. Thank you! This is a first for me, self-publishing a short story. It’s been an exciting project since the day I did the poll on Facebook, asking you lovely people which of my characters you wanted me to write about. The character from the Forgotten Legion won out, narrowly, and this is the result. The one hundred and something people who backed the Kickstarter campaign got to read this story almost 9 months ago, but now you can too. Enjoy the story, and please email me if you have any questions about it or anything else – ben@benkane.net Ben

Thinking in CSS
Aravind Shenoy - 2014
Instead of wandering through loads of theory, we will understand CSS more practically so that we can design a webpage using CSS. We have used Notepad for the examples in this book. Alternatively, you can also use Notepad++ or any advanced editor. All that you need to do is copy the code and paste it into Notepad. Upon execution, you will get the output as depicted in the screenshots. Screenshots are provided for each sample code. Coding gets better with practice. The examples in this book are compatible with almost every browser. Instead of using the verbatim code, you can modify the code and see the change in the output, thereby understanding the subtle nuances of CSS. By the end of the book, with practice, you can achieve better things and get more acquainted with CSS.
Software Tools
Brian W. Kernighan - 1976
The programs contained in the book are not artificial, but are actual programs ae tools which have proved valuable in the production of other programs.Modern programming techniques such as structured programming and top-down design are emphasized and applied to every program. The programs are presented in a structured language called Ratfor ("Rational Fortran") which can be easily understood by anyone familiar with Fortran or PL/I, Algol, PASCAL, or similar languages. (Ratfor translates readily into Fortran or PL/I. One of the tools presented is a preprocessor to translate Ratfor into Fortran). All of the programs are complete and have been tested directly from the text. The programs are available in machine-readable form from Addison-Wesley.Software Tools is ideal for use in a "software engineering" course, for a second course in programming, or as a supplement in any programming course. All programmers, professional and student, will find the book invaluable as a source of proven, useful programs for reading and study. Numerous exercises are provided to test comprehension and to extend the concepts presented in the text.
