No human being who stood on her decks that fateful night was alive to commemorate the event on its 100th anniversary. Their stories are with us, however, and the lessons remain. He was an explorer of the watershed of the Upper Missouri River in present day North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana. These men would later be known as Ashley's Hundred. Early in the trek, Glass established himself as a hard-working fur trapper.
