Upended Life
Erin R. Flynn - 2019
Which is almost funny given at nineteen I already know too much of the darkness of the world and people, the secrets they keep. Or so I thought. Turns out those quirky abilities I’ve been keeping secret expose me to a world I didn’t know existed. Sure, I knew I wasn’t human—but how exactly do I find out more without ending up in the wrong hands? And I’m not so sure I’m in the right hands now given some of the reactions to finding me. They say I’m the last fairy. I’m not sure I should trust them when their thoughts are mostly of power and how to use me. But I’m also not sure I have much of a choice. My powers are dangerous and I don’t know how to use them. They promise to teach me what I need to know and give me a chance at something I’ve never had before. A normal life. I don’t think anything about Artemis University and those who attend is normal, but it’s still better than the life I’ve been living if they keep half their promises. I think hoping they’ll keep half is generous. Artemis University is a hot burning reverse harem, university-age paranormal academy series with darker elements, strong language, violence, and a heroine who follows her own moral compass of what is right… And who she ends up giving her heart to.

Kat’s very soul is at stake, and destiny doesn't seem to be playing out in her favor. Can these two unlikely partners challenge fate itself before it's too late?

And my wolf always gets her way. Except, when she's interested, people end up dead, too.I should have packed my bags and run away to the edges of the world that same night, but I stayed. And I searched. And I found much more than I bargained for.As if the wolf controlling me wasn't enough, a new set of powers is awakening inside of me, battling for dominance. The world had never really intended to leave me be, like I'd thought for five long years. Wyrde and Wayward
Charlotte E. English - 2019
It is what happens afterwards that sets them apart. It is not easy being the most supernatural family in England. Nell talks to the dead; Lord Werth is too often to be found out in the churchyard at the dead of night; and the less said about Lord Bedgberry, the better. Only Miss Gussie Werth has missed out on the family curse. She sups on chocolate, not blood; she's blissfully oblivious to spectres (except for Great-Aunt Honoria, of course); and she hasn't the smallest inclination to turn into a beast upon the full moon, and go ravening about the countryside. But there's more to the Wyrde than meets the eye. When a visit to a neighbouring family goes spectacularly, deliciously wrong, Gussie's ideas about her own nature undergo a swift and serious change. Far from being the most ordinary of the bunch, she may just prove to be the most disastrous Werth of them all... Refined Regency manners meet gothic comedy to delightfully absurd effect in Wyrde and Wayward, a fresh new series from the author of Modern Magick and the Malykant Mysteries.

If you like Darcy Coates, Shani Struthers or JL Bryan, then you will love the Witches of Palmetto Point Series by Wendy Wang! Download your copy now and get comfy because once you start reading you won’t be able to put it down. Author Interview: Why such a fascination with the dead and ghost stories? I grew up listening to ghost stories from my family. My granny’s property was next door to an old churchyard and you could see the headstones through the trees separating the two properties. She’d tell us about haints (spirits) that would wander over and mess with the knick-knacks she had. She also used to tell a story about my how my grandfather’s ghost would lay down on the bed next to her sometimes. Said the old iron bed would squeak. I still get chills when I think about it. You started out writing fantasy, why the switch to suspense? Funny you mention that. I actually started out writing scary stories. I wasn’t sure people would want to read them, so I wrote my second love, fantasy. About a year ago a friend of mine asked me whatever happened to those ghost stories you used to write. She told me I should start publishing them too, and so here we are. Why stories featuring a psychic who can see the dead? Well, like most of my characters, she just popped into my head one day and wouldn’t shut up. I thought it would be interesting to write about her life and about the South Carolina coast. I lived there for fourteen years and know the landscape really well. I also have family that’s a lot like hers – all up in your business but that loves you fiercely. Who would enjoy this novel? Anyone who loves a good scare, a little humor and a crazy southern family full of witches.Read Haunting Charlie for FREE with your Kindle Unlimited subscription.

Sinister Magic
Lindsay Buroker - 2020
When magical bad guys hurt people, I take care of them. Permanently. This doesn’t make me popular with the rest of the magical community—as you can tell from the numerous break-ins and assassination attempts I’ve endured over the years. But thanks to my half-elven blood, a powerful sword named Chopper, and a telepathic tiger with an attitude, I’ve always been able to handle my problems with aplomb. Maybe some cursing and swearing, too, but definitely aplomb. That changes when my boss is afflicted with a mysterious disease, a government agent starts investigating me, and a godforsaken dragon shows up in the middle of my latest job. I’ve taken down vampires, zombies, and ogres, but dragons are way, way more powerful. And it doesn’t look like this one is going to like me. Worse than that, he wants to use his magic to compel me to do his bidding, as if I’m some weak-minded minion. That’s not going to happen. I’d die before being some dragon’s slave. But if I can’t figure out a way to avoid him, save my boss, and get rid of the government spook, I’m screwed. Or dead. Or screwed and dead. And that’s never comfortable.
