Ebb Tide
Dawn Lee McKenna - 2019
Who broke into the French's home? Was Robert French's murder the reason for the break-in, or a terrible, unexpected result? The people of this quaint coastal area in the Florida Panhandle are shocked by the crime, but one of them is the one who pulled the trigger, killing a man who only had a few months to live.Meanwhile, Maggie struggles to understand new mysteries in her own marriage. What is her husband and best friend really doing to earn a living? What other secrets is he keeping? This is a novellette, not one of the regular books in the bestselling series. It is intended as a short "extra" or "bonus" read, and is also a prequel; set four years before the first book, Low Tide. It is intended for those who have read the series, and the fun is in knowing what is in store for these now-beloved characters. As such, it's not a good introduction to the Forgotten Coast Florida Suspense series, and would not be the best entertainment value for your dollar. New readers are always welcome to the fold, but this isn't the book for them. For that, check out the boxed set of the first four books, which is available at the same price. Then come back...we'll leave a light on for ya..
The Forgotten Coast Florida Suspense series is clean suspense, with very little violence, very mild language and no sexual content. It is rich in coastal atmosphere, populated by textured, full-realized characters and liberally seasoned with dry humor.

Foul Ball: My Life and Hard Times Trying to Save an Old Ballpark
Jim Bouton - 2003
Host to organized baseball since 1892, Wahconah Park was soon to be abandoned by the owner of the Pittsfield Mets who would move his team to a new stadium in another town---an all too familiar story. Enter Bouton and his partners with the best deal ever offered to a community---a locally owned professional baseball team and a privately restored city owned ballpark at no cost to the taxpayers. It was a dream come true for the vast majority of the people of Pittsfield. But Bouton's plan was opposed by an elite group of power brokers who wanted to build a new $18.5 million baseball stadium---a stadium that the people had voted against three different times! In what one reviewer called that same humane, sarcastic voice, Bouton unmasks a mayor who brags that the fix is in, a newspaper that lies to its readers, and a city government that operates out of a bar. And that's just Part l. Part ll is the even more amazing story of what happened after this book as self published---a story in itself---in hardcover. Invited back to Pittsfield by newly elected city officials, Bouton and his partners raise $1.2 million, help uncover a document that dates Pittsfield's baseball origins to 1791, and stage a vintage baseball game that is broadcast live on national television. Who could have guessed what would happen next? And that this time it would involve the Massachusetts Attorney General.

William Blake
G.K. Chesterton - 1909
His ‘natural supernaturalism’, personal mythology and vision can leave readers dazzled by the intensity and passion of his verse. In this outstanding work, Chesterton goes right to the heart of the matter and addresses the question of whether Blake’s genius was tainted by madness or whether his peculiar outlook on the world was the key to his success. With a detailed exposition of Blake’s life, and by weaving lucid explanations of his philosophy and religion into a discourse on his poetry, Chesterton has produced a remarkable and sensitive biography.
