Inn at Raven's Crest
Salem Marlowe - 2017
When the opportunity arises, the two jump at the chance to make this dream a reality. They find an old Victorian home that has been vacant for many years and believe this is their chance to fix up and open the Inn at Raven’s Crest. Maggie quickly learns of the ghosts still living in the house. She befriends them; talks to them; helps them find peace, and offers a way to get to the other side. As the first guests arrives, so does an awful storm which puts out the roads, the power and the internet, thus leaving all of the guests captive at the Inn. When one person is found murdered, and then another, everyone is frightened and not sure who to trust and who the murderer is. There are many signs that point to one and then another suspect before the final chapter is revealed. Inn at Raven’s Crest by Salem Marlowe has a plot we may have read before, but the characters and the events are brand new and kept me glued to my Kindle. Each time I thought I had solved the mystery, another twist changed my mind. I couldn’t help but root for Maggie and Lee and for the future success of the Inn. Each character was well portrayed and had all the human characteristics of good and evil in them. I would love to see what happens when the next set of guests arrive at the Inn. It would be an awesome TV series with new guests arriving weekly. I highly recommend reading Inn at Raven’s Crest; mystery fans will not be disappointed. Two friends buy an abandoned Victorian house and turn it into a bed and breakfast. Before renovations are completed they discover their home has come complete with ghosts, and an old, unsolved murder. Can they solve the mystery and get the ghosts to leave? Or will they get caught up in a new set of murders, ones that are decimating their guests?

Rod Collins - 2006
A suspicious death leads to an investigation, a manhunt, and the capture of the self-confessed killer. But when Sheriff Henry "Bud" Blair reads the autopsy report, he begins to suspect that someone other than his prisoner is the actual murderer. Set in Oregon's high desert country, Spider Silk introduces you to a compelling cast of characters and sets you on a fast-paced, page-turning adventure to find out who is behind a string of (seemingly) unrelated murders. Moving from the backdrop story of a remote ranch and a lonely widower to the dark and pervasive reach of organized crime, Spider Silk is not only intriguing... it's an entirely believable saga. Surprising forensic evidence and sharp detective work keep your interest level high and the suspense palpable in this police procedural cliffhanger. Spider Silk is also a love story. Badly burned by divorce, Bud Blair steers shy of women. But his work makes it almost impossible to avoid contact with Nancy Sixkiller, the beautiful Yakima Indian woman who manages the Emergency Services Center in Lake County, Oregon. That contact is intensified when Bud is injured and Nancy takes on the role of caregiver. When you dive into this gripping western fiction tale, you'll enter the sparsely settled, high desert landscape blessed with the hot springs, big lakes, and timbered mountains Collins knows and loves.
Murder in the E.R.
Jackie Holiday - 2014
Join Deirdre and Tony in their action packed, thrilling adventure as they work to unravel the mystery of the Murder in the E.R. Deirdre sat up on her bed "I would SO love to shave my legs right now, but I'm not supposed to. There's sort of a metal rod going through my leg." Courtney picked up the shave gel and gave it a shake, "Dee, you get way too hung up on rules." Courtney pulled up the sheet, started rubbing on the shave gel and said, "Gee, we could have done a bikini wax too. I wish I had thought of it." Deirdre laughed, "Yeah, like that's ever going to happen." Courtney shaved Deirdre’s legs, rinsing the razor in the plastic hospital water carafe. Just as Courtney finished rubbing Deirdre’s legs with moisturizer, Deirdre saw Courtney's eyes grow wide. And who should walk in but Detective Tony Capella, "Hi, I heard this was a big day and thought I'd…" Tony looked down at Deirdre's freshly shaved legs, which he did not find flabby. No, not flabby at all. "I'm sorry. I should have knocked. I, I should really… I should probably go." Courtney hopped up off the side of the bed, "No, I was just leaving. You should stay." Courtney pushed Tony into a chair. "I'll see you tomorrow Dee. Love ya’.” As Courtney leaned down to give Deirdre a kiss on the forehead, Deirdre whispered, "Thank you Court. You're the best." "Yeah well I um… I just wanted to stop by and see how you were doing." Deirdre struggled between smiling, and looking nonchalant, "That's cool. Did you find out who ran me over? "
Dumb White Husband vs. the Grocery Store
Benjamin Wallace - 2011
That is to say that he loves and cares for his family, is successful in his career, popular around the neighborhood, can dress himself (often without injury) and is capable of reasonable thought. Demographically, however, he functions like a 4-year-old that can't quite master the intricacies of the potty. It isn't his fault. He studied hard and got a college degree. He works hard and earns a comfortable living. But, like all other dumb white husbands, he leads a dual life; competent member of society by day, helpless male by night, weekends and holidays. He has served for years as the nervous legal department-approved foil of commercials, TV and movies. And, for this service, we thank him. No one has ever cared to look inside the mind of the dumb white husband - probably for a fear of what we might find - but, if we took a minute to consider it, we may see that he's not as dumb as we all think. But, he probably is. In this adventure, Dumb White Husband goes to the grocery store.NOTE: This title is also available as part of the Dumb White Husband collected edition, Dumb White Husband for President (and other stories)
