From "Barbara Allen" through "The Wreck of the Old 97" to contemporary ballads by Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, The Rose the Briar is, as Geoffrey O'Brien hailed in the Los Angeles Times Book Review, "a book full of internal echoes and provocative coincidences," featuring "historical investigation, shamanistic trance-journey, memoir, novella and cartoon," where "names and costumes change, soldiers become cowboys, demon lovers become backwoods murderer; the voices are unmistakably distinct but they share a common ground."

A short story romance with an alpha tattooed biker, a virgin, and HEA. DON’T HIDE FROM ME Cassie I’m a simple woman. I have dated a few men; nothing to exciting. I am a twenty-four-year-old virgin. No, I’m not saving it for marriage. But I am saving it for someone that will make it good. Van I am a tattooed, biker that has been around the block. I love women and never settle for just one. Bad Boys After Dark

Gabi Moore - 2017
You will need a few things; clean panties, a hot man/vibrator, and blocks of uninterrupted time. The only thing I can think of that's better than curling up with one of Gabi's books is curling up with a bundle of them. There's not a single book in this set that I wouldn't recommend. They're all deliciously dark, steamy, and absolutely riveting." Included in this set: NEVER LOOK BACK When they kidnapped her, something dark inside me came bubbling to the surface. I knew I wasn’t afraid anymore. I wasn’t going to ignore my past any longer. This time, I would fight... WRECKED & YOURS When the ship went under, I acted fast, and I did what I had to. And now we were stuck in the middle of nowhere, and the worst was yet to come. Looking back, I guess I always had a suspicion that there was something fated about those three strange days we spent together, and about the chain reaction afterwards that brought us both square into one another’s lives. COME UNDONE I can spot women like her a mile away. Uptight, fearful, holding onto their perfect lives by a thread. The moment I saw her, I wanted to break that thread. I want to possess her. Strip her down. Unravel her little world, and get at her hidden inner core that I’ve only had glimpses of so far. ONE LAST BREATH Aden - ex military and professional killer - has had it with the big city. Out in the snowy forests of Maine, he doesn't have to deal with any of that. It was perfect. Until she showed up. Broken, forgotten, and left for dead. It's time for Aden to discover just how much passion still exists in his calloused heart. AGAINST ALL ODDS She wasn’t my type. Not even close. So how did I end up here, in a steel container in a warehouse, feeling things I’d never felt for anyone before? I didn't know why, but I just knew that after that night we spent together, our lives would change forever. WHATEVER IT TAKES She’s still as beautiful as I remember, but she hates my guts, And I don’t blame her. But now I have a chance to do what’s right. And I will. Whatever it takes... DARK DESIRES I can see right through her good girl charade. I’m an actor, after all. I do what I want, and I don’t do anything unless it excites me. And she excites me. There’s something dark about her. Something magical, chaotic and beautiful. I could stay away. I should stay away. But I won’t...

Women of the Beat Generation: The Writers, Artists and Muses at the Heart of a Revolution

Brenda Knight - 1996
The Beats helped make literature a democracy. All one needed, they believed, was passion and a love of the written word. The names of Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Neal Cassady, and William Burroughs and their friends are well known to the reading public at large, and on its face the beat movement appears to have been an exclusively male phenomenon. But the Beat movement's publicity did not necessarily reflect the reality of its literature and spirit. This singular book is devoted to contributions of women to the body and spirit of the Beat revolution. The women included in this anthology run the gamut from the famous---Carolyn Cassady and Jan Kerouac-to the relatively undiscovered-Mary Fabilli and Helen Adam. The art, prose, and poetry selected represent the full range and development of their work. The women whose work is featured in this anthology were talented rebels with enough courage and creative spirit to turn their backs on "the good life" that the fifties promised and forge their way to San Francisco and Greenwich Village. They dared to attempt to create lives of their own and make their own way. Today an unprecedented amount of brilliant, imaginative and highly experimental writing by women is being recognized and applauded. This anthology looks back to the antecedents for this greater liberty of expression. It is a testament to the lives of the women who helped shape the Beat era. Together, their voices form an energetic force field of consciousness that manifested at a rich and difficult time in cultural history.Women of the Beat Generation profiles 40 women --Precursors, MusesWriters, and Artists-including Elise Cowen, Diane di Prima, Hettie Jones, Joan Vollmer Burroughs, Jan Kerouac, Jane Bowles, Carolyn Cassady, Edie Parker KerouacEileen Kaufman, Joyce Johnson, Denise Levertov, Brenda Frazer, Anne Waldman, Jay DeFeo, Joan Brown, and many othersWomen of the Beat Generation highlights the lives and work of these female iconoclasts, and ensures the world will not forget their contributions to its transformation.

Phantasmagoria

Lewis Carroll - 1869
Known for pointing out the absurdities of life in his fiction and poetry, Carroll took paranormal belief to the extreme in the satirical poem Phantasmagoria, the humorous story of an annoying ghost that is assigned to haunt a new house. While the owner wishes the ghost would simply leave, the ghost politely informs the man of the many types of specters and their duties, which include scaring people, making them ill, and causing mysterious disturbances. This volume, beautifully illustrated by Arthur B. Frost, is the only edition of Phantasmagoria in print outside of Carroll anthologies.
