Chaos Conspiracy

Holly Evans - 2018
It’s a shame I can’t put that on my résumé. Mercenaries with magic or supernal blood have a much easier time landing jobs. Unfortunately, if anyone finds out about my blood magic, I’ll be executed in twelve hours or less. Blood witches were eradicated a century before I was born, deemed too dangerous, or so everyone thought. My life wasn’t too bad. I had to wrangle more drunk pixies than I’d have liked, and it was far from luxurious. I struggled to pay my rent, but I wasn’t complaining. Not too loudly, anyway. Cue the Council and Dante Caspari. The Council are the people who will execute me if they find out what I am. Dante Caspari is the sexy-as-sin guy they hired me to work with so I can find out what happened to the missing supernals in Bucharest. It sounds great working with a sexy guy, right? The problem is, his father’s a demon prince and his mother’s one of the most powerful witches in the Americas. If anyone is going to trip me up and hand me over to the Council, it’s him. So, I have to find the missing supernals, save the day, and try not to get killed doing it. Funny, those drunk pixies I was complaining about don’t seem so bad now. Set in the same world as the popular Forged in Blood series

Covened

Ann Swan - 2019
So when I came into mine, my grandmother helped me hide it so I wouldn't be swept away by the ISC, our magical government. The price of discovery was steep; becoming an ISC drone and being paired with their choice of mates for my coven. So I hid in plain sight working days at Maggie's Pet Wash and night piecing together the mythical Words of Power. The only thought that keeps me going is figuring out a way to beat the ISC and hopefully fall in love with a coven of my own... maybe even raise a few little witchlings. So when my familiar, a pug named Mrs Pig, screws up my one shot at obtaining the Words of Power, I figure everything is ruined. That is until Pierce, Sam, and their own talking dogs walk into my life. Now that I have them, can I give them up? Even to save magic? The ISC is coming for me. What they don't know is: I'M COMING FOR THEM, TOO.

Chaos

J.B. Trepagnier - 2021
But we don’t just allow anyone to get a library card. Need to summon a demon? Raise the dead? A clan of vampires bothering you? Do you like the really nasty werewolf erotica? The Library of the Profane has all of that, but not everyone can handle the contents (Some people can’t handle their werewolf erotica). I’ve been a librarian here for five years and when I say I killed to get this job, I’m not being facetious. You can’t check out our books. Some of the books are sentient and don’t like it. We have rooms to perform the spells in or hell, we do have a copy machine (copies are extra). When a witch came in and said they needed to do a little necromancy, I didn’t question it. They wouldn’t have been given a library card if they were going to raise someone really bad. I helped with the necromancy because it’s just my job as a librarian.Except it wasn’t a normal resurrection. It was the physical embodiment of Chaos and when he woke up, he saw me first and now he’s attached. Chaos personified is a horrible library guest and he won’t leave with the witch who raised him. He’s constantly getting into things he’s not supposed to and he’s really into the werewolf erotica. It’s not like I can let him out because the Library of the Profane is meant to contain Chaos. The rest of the world isn’t. He’s awful about keeping his identity secret too. A warlock, a Hellhound, and a vampire know he’s here and they are bugging me to let Chaos have a little fun. I just want a normal day of summoning demons, cursing people, and telling people to be quiet in my library. This is too much.
