Hubbert & Lil: The Complete Series

Gallagher Gray - 2018

Her nephew, Theodore Hubbert—T.S. for short—is her witty, beleaguered sidekick in a quartet of wild adventures that careen from the staid Wall Street bank where T.S. spent thirty years, through Hell’s Kitchen and Manhattan’s fashion world, with a grand finale at the ballet. The dynamic partners in crime reveal an impressive array of smarts, street savvy, and moxie, mixed with a poignant compassion for those embroiled in the professional jealousies, chilling family secrets, and sexual predation they uncover. They’re a thoroughly endearing odd couple—T.S. with his perfectly groomed appearance and impeccably ordered existence (overseen by his imperious felines, Brenda and Eddie) is the perfect counterpoint to the captivating force of nature that is Auntie Lil. Fans of Miss Marple, Miss Silver, Miss Seeton, Mrs. Pollifax, Jessica Fletcher, Agatha Raisin, Henrie O, Hercule Poirot, and their many distinguished silver-haired colleagues, will be thoroughly delighted. Aficionados of cozy authors like Dorothy Cannell, Carolyn Hart, M.C. Beaton, Joanne Fluke, Jana DeLeon, and Alexander McCall Smith will be equally charmed! With partners dropping like flies, his flamboyant Auntie Lil steps in to facilitate his career change from personnel manager to amateur sleuth. CAST OF KILLERS (Hubbert & Lil Cozy Mystery Series Book 2) A MYSTERIOUS GROUP OF ELDERLY ACTRESSES—WITH SECRETS TO KILL FOR… Auntie Lil has “volun-told” T.S. into serving lunch at a Manhattan soup kitchen when suddenly a little old lady jumps up, clutching at her throat… and drops dead. The soup kitchen regulars, a crew of snooty failed actresses from the Eisenhower era, appear so grief-stricken that Auntie Lil (once again) offers up her nephew’s services, this time to sort out the woman’s real identity. After all, T.S. muses, it’s not like she was murdered.Famous last words. DEATH OF A DREAM MAKER (Hubbert & Lil Cozy Mystery Series Book 3) THE SECRET LOVES OF SENIOR SLEUTHS--AND A MOST UNTIMELY MURDER! Casey Jones Mysteries Vol 1-3

Katy Munger - 2017
The South will never be the same. Don't miss her.”—Janet Evanovich "Fast-paced and action-packed...The charm here lies in Munger's writing, which is silky-smooth and packs a wallop.”—I Love a Mystery “She is smart, tough, and tenacious…a wonderfully entertaining read.”—Publisher’s Weekly Big, badass Casey Jones, the smart-mouthed female PI with the thunder thighs and the bunny-soft heart, has everything you could possibly need to be an ace private investigator – except an investigator’s license. Fifteen years ago, this hard-boiled babe walked out of a Florida prison after serving an eighteen-month sentence, sporting 160 pounds of “nobody kicks my ass” and a couple of inches of dark roots at the base of her bleach job (“simply to confuse people into underestimating me”) and swearing she’d never set foot in a prison or trust a man again. Trust, no. But by no means has she given them up. She can love with the best of them, but when it comes to lust she’s in a class by herself. LEGWORK, Vol. 1Author Munger masterfully blends nail-biting suspense with Casey’s hilarious wisecracking narration as she navigates an unsavory southern stew of crooked politicians, crooked business deals, old grudges, ancient crimes, and everyone’s favorite, dysfunctional families. OUT OF TIME, Vol. 2The family of a death row inmate just isn’t buying the story that she killed her cop husband, and they’ve hired North Carolina’s mouthiest female sleuth to save her from lethal injection—in a month. MONEY TO BURN, Vol. 3When a favorite client gets killed on her watch, Casey vows to find the killer no matter what killers, arsonists, rapists, and spoiled rotten socialites get in her way. Then, to the cynical sleuth’s chagrin—everyone all around her starts falling in love…just before Casey herself is smitten. Always a rip-roaring romp, these will appeal to fans of all female sleuth mysteries—private eyes like Sue Grafton’s Kinsey Millhone, Sara Paretsky’s V.I. Warshawski, Laura Lippman’s Tess Monaghan, Marcia Muller’s Sharon McCone, and Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum, as well as their tough and witty male antecedents. If you ever flipped over Philip Marlowe, Spenser, or of course, the immortal Wolfe and his buddy Archie, you’ll fall in love with their direct descendant, Casey Jones, Private Eye.

Lei Crime Series Boxed Set: Books 1-4

Toby Neal - 2014
No one can read just one! "Toby Neal's storytelling skills are evident in these books about a female law enforcement office in the Hawaiian Islands. The characters are always strong, interesting people with many layers to their personalities. Their actions often surprise, but not without clues laid by the author that help the reader understand. The plots are crafted with care, created so that they flow naturally and never feel forced. The stories pull in the reader and make it impossible to put down the books; I've often lost sleep when reading her latest because I end up reading late into the night. Most importantly, these books are a sort of immersion course in Hawaiian culture, food, and geography. There are many layers of details in these novels, information about native Hawaiians and those new to the islands, how the various cultures sometimes clash, how outsiders may have to alter their behaviors to be accepted fully. The food descriptions alone are enough reason to read the books.I loved every book in this series, each one adding to the story of Lei, her life, her family, her complex history, and finally, her growth into an amazing law enforcement officer."
