The Only Day Girl
Dorothea Moore - 1923
The story shows how modern school life helps girls play the game and overcome disabilities which would have seemed insurmountable a generation ago.
The Little Betty Wilkinson
Evelyn Smith - 1923
At first her undistinguished form at hockey, her responsibility for a disaster in a three-legged race, and her small size, vexed her as handicaps, but very soon she had opportunities for shining in her own sphere. An epidemic of influenza was one of the incidents which gave her her chance. One way and another she soon made herself liked by everybody--including the big Betty Wilkinson--and before the end of the story the school has good reason to be grateful to her. She is a jolly little girl, with a head on her shoulders, and her schoolfellows include some amusing and memorable young characters.
