Life to the Limit: My Autobiography

Jenson Button - 2017
His seventeen years in Formula 1 have seen him experience everything the sport has to offer, from nursing underpowered cars around the track to winning World Championships and everything in between. Here, Jenson tells his full story for the first time in his own honest, intelligent and eloquent style. From growing up as part of a motor-racing-mad family under the guidance of his father, John, to arriving at Williams as a fresh-faced 20 year-old, to being written off by some as a playboy and his fight back to the very pinnacle of his sport. Jenson's World Championship victory for the unsponsored and unfancied Brawn GP team is one of the most extraordinary against-the-odds sports stories of the century.Jenson's book lifts the lid on the gilded and often hidden world of Formula 1. He reveals his relationships with some of the biggest names in Formula 1- Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso as well some of the most colourful characters like Bernie Ecclestone, Ron Dennis, Frank Williams and serial winner Ross Brawn. Above all, he puts you right inside the cockpit, in the driving seat, travelling at over 200 miles per hour, battling the fear of death, showing you what happens when it goes wrong at high speed and allowing you to experience the euphoria of crossing the line first.

A Long Way from Wyandra: My story - from the bush to Black Caviar

Peter Moody - 2017
Horses were part of life, and as a teenager working for local trainers he learned many lessons - some painful - as he built his understanding of them. A mate's introduction got him a stablehand's job for legendary trainer Tommy Smith in Sydney, and his life changed forever. His journey saw him learn from some of the greatest minds in racing, as he plied his trade in Sydney, Brisbane and finally Melbourne, establishing his own highly successful stable, Moody Racing. One of the biggest innovators and risk-takers in this country's turf history, Moody won four premierships in Melbourne, the Mecca of Australian racing. But to the wider public he's known as the man who gave us the phenomenal Black Caviar. His account of her career is unique. He was, quite simply, the man who knew her best. From outback childhood, to strapper, foreman and then on to premiership-winning trainer and the guiding force behind the most famous horse of recent times, and finally to a clash with officaldom that prompted him to retire in the deepest frustration, Peter's autobiography gives a hugely entertaining, fascinating and authentic insight into one of the largest characters in Australian sport. While much has been written about Moody's career and legacy, it was a fellow trainer, Caulfield Cup-winner Jim Mason, who perhaps said it best: 'He's like a champion horse. Occasionally something comes along that's just better than everything else. That's Pete.'

Shelby American Up Close and Behind the Scenes: The Venice Years 1962-1965

Dave Friedman - 2017
Prepare for a ride like none other. In 1962 retired racing great Carroll Shelby was looking for his next big move. He'd started a racing school at Riverside Raceway in California, but he really wanted to build his own sports and racing car. He found a promising platform in the British AC Ace, and set about stuffing an American V-8 between the AC's dainty fenders. Thus was born the Shelby Cobra.Shelby set up shop in Venice, California, later in 1962, marking the beginning of the classic Cobra era. It was a near supernatural combination of brilliant designers and wrenches, ever-faster cars, championship-winning teams and drivers, and sheer chutzpah. The Venice shop spawned the 289 Cobra, Daytona Coupe, 427 Cobra, Mustang GT350, Sunbeam Tiger, and more. Eventually the Venice facility could not handle the work, especially when Ford tapped Shelby to create a high-performance version of its new and wildly successful Mustang. Moving to a larger facility and the closer relationship with Ford seemed to diminish the fast and loose nature of the original enterprise. Some of the mojo was lost.Shelby American Up Close and Behind the Scenes takes the reader inside the Venice shop in the critical 1962-1965 period. Author/photographer Dave Friedman was Shelby's official shooter, and he documented everything from Cobra construction to paddock wrenching to race wins. Shelby American Up Close and Behind the Scenes is an insider's look via Friedman's documentary photography and first-person stories from Shelby's key players. It's a must-have review of this critical period in both Shelby's history and the history of American racing.
