‘ ... this book is hilarious’Autosport‘Perry McCarthy does for Formula One what Bill Bryson did for travel writing. But beneath the black humour and wisecracks – funny enough to make you laugh out loud in public – lies an inspiring and at times poignant tale of that rarest kind of racer: one who never gave up and was, literally, prepared to die trying.’The Independent on Sunday‘Perry McCarthy has always been excellent at describing his career in a series of memorable anecdotes, and here they are, strung together in book form. The reader is frequently left racked with sympathy at the author’s outrageous misfortune, or in convulsive sobs of laughter. This is an utterly fantastic read.’MotorSport magazine‘Sometimes books, like cigarette packets, should come with a surgeons health warning. Flat Out Flat Broke is a case in point, not just because it contains photographs of the author in the long forgotten days of his early childhood, but because it will make your stomach ache from laughing.’F1 Magazine'…. A fantastic funny story'(Book of the week) The London Evening Standard‘His engaging story of a less-than-smooth life in motor racing exudes his own cockney energy and enthusiasm and is a charming feel good tale that shows you can get what you want if you want it badly enough’Scottish Sunday Express‘The James Hunt impressions, the Ayrton Senna pizza delivery, the Rat Pack stories - the laughs come thick and fast in Perry McCarthy’s fantastic new book, Flat Out Flat Broke …’Daily Express‘The third edition of Perry McCarthy’s autobiography is a brilliant read’Auto Express

Dash
Shantel Tessier - 2015
But when you find yourself behind bars and being offered the opportunity of a lifetime, you take it. I agreed to race motorcycles for Johnny Knight. A very powerful man who wanted me on his team, even knowing I was a liability. But will he still feel that way once he finds out that I had a one-night stand with his daughter? I didn't mean for it to happen. I didn't even know who she was until she walked into his office wearing my shirt from the night before. Too bad that was all she wanted-one night. It really didn't matter who she was, I wanted more. So when she ran, I followed. I should have let her go. That would have been best for both of us. But I have never done what was right, why start now? I've always been willing to take a risk, no matter what it would cost me. And I knew she was worth it all. I'm Erik Dashling, you can call me Dash. This is my story of how I willingly risked one dream for another. But everyone knows that now all dreams come true.

She’s my everything — my baby. Sleek, fast and doesn’t take any crap. Neither do I. When I met Mollie DuBois at the local clinic, my whole life changed. She’s beautiful, smart, and totally out of my league. I’ll have to up my game if I want her — and I want that sweet lady like I’ve never wanted anything else in my life.
David Kimble's Cutaways: The Techniques and the Stories Behind the Art
David Kimble - 2015
His brilliant cutaway artwork has been gracing the pages of those publications for years. Whether he illustrated engines, transmissions, full-car chassis, sports cars, race cars, or classics, his cutaway artwork revealed, in excruciating detail, things that a camera lens could never capture. In David Kimble's Cutaways: The Techniques and the Stories Behind the Art, Kimble reveals the secrets, techniques, procedures, and the dedication to craft that is required to produce these amazing illustrations. He covers the step-by-step procedures while producing fresh artwork for this book featuring a McLaren Can-Am car as well as a vintage Harley-Davidson. Although the procedures covered here are unique to Kimble, and pretty much a pipe dream to mere mortals, this title provides an inside look into how he does it. Also included are the stories and tales of how it all started, traveling the world to illustrate cars, behind the scenes with manufacturers, the Corvette years, as well as a gallery of many illustrations.Never before has David Kimble provided a look into his cutaway skunkworks, or shared the procedures for bringing these beautiful technical illustrations to life. This book is a must-have for any automotive or art fan. This book is a 2015 International Automotive Media Competition (IAMC) Gold Medal Winner and Best of Books Winner.
Hypercar
David Jubermann - 2015
A lost battle and a chance encounter with a beautiful, yet mysterious girl triggers a roller coaster of events totally beyond his control. He and his friends must now race against time and fight not only for justice but for their very survival. Sometimes winning is everything... ...and sometimes losing’s not an option. Going beyond the realm of supercars, with speeds in excess of 400km/h, Hypercar is a high-octane story that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat... David's books continously get positive feedback. Here are just a few comments that have been received: "Just finished 'Drift Race' and I have to say its a fantastic read, the terminology and drifting references are spot on as is the story line. Well done David on another brilliant book!" "Got the book today. On page 221 at the moment, and I must say, it has the perfect mix of action, danger and cars!" Professional Reviews: Review by Barbara Murison: ------------------------------ Ollie allows an almost unknown young woman to drive his beloved Porsche GT3 in which she is clocked at over 270ks, crashes the car and then does a runner leaving Ollie, an incredibly wealthy young man, to totally face the music on his own. All the money in the world though can’t stop the subsequent events and Ollie is deported and his car confiscated and he finds himself in the exotic locations of Las Vegas, California and Detroit where he becomes immersed in the illegal street racing culture. Readers who have enjoyed David Jubermann’s earlier books will find the atmosphere of speed, ambition and money (and what it can buy) are all addictive and his old (and new) fans will find a compelling, unputdownable read. Review by Bob Docherty: --------------------------- If you are going to write a novel the best piece of advice you can get is to write what you know about. David Jubermann knows about cars and driving fast and he knows about the culture that surrounds speed. His latest novel is a long way from the boy racers of Christchurch and the drift racers of previous novels Shiftlight and Drift Race although some of the characters appear in this novel. It is nice to know they did alright. Ollie is wealthy, has just bought a house and drives a Porsche GT3. He allows a fast young woman to drive it in a gross error of judgement. She speeds at 275Ks, is clocked, crashes the car, and does a runner, leaving Ollie to face the music. He is busted, deported and his car is confiscated perhaps by crusher Collins. These events lead him to Hawaii, then to Las Vegas, California and Detroit, into car racing where the stakes are astronomical. Losing is inconceivable and will mean the loss of your car and even more. This is the world of the super rich and their wondrous toys and extravagant lifestyles and whats more it makes for a very appealing and readible book. Well written and structured and will appeal to all those petrol heads of high school age who love cars and speed. Download and read it now!

N.A.R.T.: A concise history of the North American Racing Team 1957 to 1983
Terry O'Neil - 2015
It also suffered financial difficulties, and arguments with track organizers. This book explains what NART was, how it was formed, and what it achieved over three decades of competition. It wasn't just sports cars that were entered into races, NART entered Formula One cars and Formula Junior cars as well.Never as financially stable as his rival team owners, Chinetti did deals with Ferrari to purchase the latest specification sports cars at the end of a season, in order to attract the best drivers to drive for NART. It was also an opportunity to lease the cars on a race-by-race basis, an arrangement that appealed to some of Chinetti's clientele.Whilst success on the track was significant, problems were never far away. Working on the cars with a limited number of staff, and not receiving spares from Ferrari on time, NART always appeared to be in a state of crisis. No matter ... despite the difficulties, the formula worked well for Luigi Chinetti, and the acronym N.A.R.T. has rightly become legendary.
