Classical Mechanics

H.C. Corben - 1974
    41 illustrations. 1960 edition.

Quantum Physics of Atoms, Molecules, Solids, Nuclei, and Particles

Robert M. Eisberg - 1974
Emphasizes the applications of theory, and contains new material on particle physics, electron-positron annihilation in solids and the Mossbauer effect. Includes new appendices on such topics as crystallography, Fourier Integral Description of a Wave Group, and Time-Independent Perturbation Theory.

The Philosophy of Quantum Mechanics: The Interpretations of Quantum Mechanics in Historical Perspective

Max Jammer - 1974
Jammer is one of a precious few who are equally at home within quantum theory and the larger philosophical tradition. The text is quite accessible, but it is a work of real scholarship, written for scholars and scientists, and will present significant challenges for the layman.

Schaum's Outline of Optics

Eugene Hecht - 1974
More than 40 million students have trusted Schaum's to help them succeed in the classroom and on exams. Schaum's is the key to faster learning and higher grades in every subject. Each Outline presents all the essential course information in an easy-to-follow, topic-by-topic format. You also get hundreds of examples, solved problems, and practice exercises to test your skills. This Schaum's Outline gives youPractice problems with full explanations that reinforce knowledgeCoverage of the most up-to-date developments in your course fieldIn-depth review of practices and applicationsFully compatible with your classroom text, Schaum's highlights all the important facts you need to know. Use Schaum's to shorten your study time-and get your best test scores!Schaum's Outlines-Problem Solved.

Laser Physics

Murray Sargent - 1974
Knowledge is assumed of the usual half-year introduction of quantum mechanics found in undergraduate physics curricula. The material can be covered in two semesters, or, alternatively, the first part (Chaps 1-13) can be used as a one-semester course in which quantum mechanical aspects of the electromagnetic field are ignored. Each chapter is accompanied by problems that illustrate the text and give useful (occasionally new) results. Existing laser media are intrinsically quantum mechanical and are most easily studied with the quantum theory. Understanding the laser along these lines enlivens one's understanding of quantum mechanics itself. In fact, the material constitutes a viable, applied alternative for the usual second and third semesters of quantum mechanics.

Fundamentals of the Theory of Plasticity

L.M. Kachanov - 1974
It covers problems associated with the special nature of plastic state and important applications of plasticity theory. 1971 edition.

Fundamental Mechanics of Fluids

I.G. Currie - 1974
The new edition contains completely reworked line drawings, revised problems, and extended end-of-chapter questions for clarification and expansion of key concepts. Includes appendices summarizing vectors, tensors, complex variables, and governing equations in common coordinate systems Comprehensive in scope and breadth, the Third Edition of Fundamental Mechanics of Fluids discusses: Continuity, mass, momentum, and energyOne-, two-, and three-dimensional flowsLow Reynolds number solutionsBuoyancy-driven flowsBoundary layer theoryFlow measurementSurface wavesShock waves
