Like their mythic counterparts, these modem-day mortals are engulfed by needs that burn and consume. Their language mixes poetry and profanity, imbuing the play with lyricism and great theatrical force.

    Lake being the oldest tries to find a balance between caring for each of his younger brothers and making sure they are secured financially. While Lake and his best friend grind it out, his brothers do not make his position as their leader easy. Dealing with four different personalities and individual internal battles from each of them, Lake with every odd against him tries to be the rock his brothers need. He struggles between being their protector and their enabler while also dealing with his own personal hurdles.

    These pages, apparently found concealed beneath some floorboards, seemed to cast a remarkable new light on the mystery at the heart of the play. While Frayn began to lose all sense of certainty, actor David Burke, who played Niels Bohr in the London production and had some experience with documents of this sort, followed the action with particularly close interest.
