Expectations & Apologies

Elizabeth Squire - 2020
Darcy's caustic remarks about her at the assembly. Would she still have seen him as arrogant, selfish and conceited? Although there will be others in my What if series they are all stand alone stories.

A Marriage of True Affection: Pride and Prejudice Continues

Jodi L. Covey - 2019
That a couple in love truly know one another makes not for a Happily Ever After, but rather prepares them better for the rough road ahead. Such is gradually discovered as Mr. and Mrs. Darcy begin their marriage in sensual bliss, each looking forward to a lifetime of felicity, and neither of them cognizant of the great challenges therein. A Marriage of True Affection is a collection of vignettes chronicling the first eleven years in the union of the most beloved couple in English literature. Beginning on their wedding night, the work highlights significant moments that sometimes test, but moreover strengthen the Darcys' relationship as they struggle to overcome the very faults that so nearly separated them forever. For despite the lessons learned and the love they share, our supremely stubborn couple remains, in essentials, very much what they ever were. Chapters include: A Midnight Embrace - Awakened on their wedding night, Darcy and Elizabeth express physically what they cannot in mere words Disturbing Recollections - As they remain haunted by past transgressions, the couple wonder if forgiveness can ever truly be attained The Storm - The onset of a violent storm en route to Derbyshire leads to their first heated quarrel as a married couple The Dinner Party - Soon after the birth of their first child, Mr. Darcy battles sexual frustration and jealousy as his charming wife enchants the neighbors Welcoming Janie Darcy - Elizabeth falls into labor at a time most inconvenient, while Darcy works diligently to save their land from a natural disaster For Better or Worse - A terrifying encounter befalls the traveling couple, leaving them to work through the ensuing grief and a shared desire for revenge (warning: some disturbing scenes) Christmas in Spring - When a poacher is caught in Pemberley Wood, the Darcys are not in accord with regards to his punishment A Jarring Revelation - In Pemberley's library, Elizabeth makes a remarkable, yet potentially devastating discovery. Dare she share it with her husband? And many more! With the return of some of our old favorites come new characters, as well, each of whom either helping or hindering our dear couple in good times and bad. And as they learn and grow from each new experience, by their eleventh anniversary, can we really expect the idyllic love Jane Austen so expertly built to have endured? This work is meant for mature readers.

An Extraordinary Request

Don H. Miller - 2013
It contains the usual cast of characters from Pride and Prejudice, plus several others, some of whom were introduced in an earlier P&P variation. In this version Darcy does not make his “She is tolerable, but not handsome enough to tempt me” statement, and a few days later, Darcy and Elizabeth actually have a rather stimulating conversation. The next day he is suddenly called away to London, only to return to make an extraordinary request to Elizabeth related to his sister Georgiana. The book relates why Darcy and his family chose to make the request to Elizabeth, her response to the request, and the ebb and flow of Darcy and Elizabeth’s developing relationship as she undertakes the activities related to the request. It also gives an account of the DeBourgh family beyond Lady Catherine and Anne and portrays a disappearance by Lydia Bennet and Wickham while the militia is still in Meryton, in which no note is left by Lydia and Wickham returns to his regiment days later claiming to know nothing of her disappearance. Solving the mystery of her disappearance becomes a crucial task for Darcy. An avid fan of Jane Austen, Don Miller recently discovered Jane Austen Fan Fiction and in particular, Pride and Prejudice variations. Being intrigued by this genre, he decided to write his own variations of Pride and Prejudice. This is his second of this genre.

Unknown Family Connections: A Pride and Prejudice Variation

Shana Granderson A Lady - 2021
It is a one off, standalone story.**Over 150 years in the past an Evil Duke plotted to separate his first and second sons. He was a man who had two interests: money and status. Lord Sedgewick Rhys-Davies, the 3rd Duke of Bedford sets off a chain of events that ultimately ends up doing the exact opposite of what his original evil intent was in the far future.Mr. Thomas Bennet lives with his second wife and family on his estate Longbourn in Hertfordshire. As far as he knows, he is an indirect descendant of the last Earl of Meryton whose line died out with him over 150 years ago. The family has owned Longbourn and Netherfield Park for as long as anyone remembers. There is an entail on Longbourn, but not the one we are used to. As in the canon, this Bennet dislikes London, and the Ton and he and his family keep away from London society. His second wife is the daughter of an Earl but just goes as Mrs. Bennet. The Bennet’s new tenants at Netherfield Park are the Bingleys. One of the major deviations from canon in this tale, Jane Bennet has more than a little backbone while Bingley has little or none. How will Darcy behave, will he make assumptions and act on them? Will Elizabeth allow her prejudices to rule? When Wickham slithers onto the scene will he cause havoc? The 7th Duke of Bedford is ill, and he will be the end of the line as there are no living relatives to inherit the dukedom and vast Bedford holdings. He removes an old letter from a safe in his study written by the 4th Duke. Witten on the outside of the letter is: ‘Open ONLY if there are no more Rhys-Davies heirs.’The Duke opens the letter and learns of the 3rd Duke’s evil and there is in fact an heir, although a direct descendant, he is not a Rhys-Davies.This is the story of different families and what happens when their lives intersect and are changed for ever. There is quite a bit about Lizzy & Darcy, but there are not always the main focus of the story as the title infers.
