The main character is an introverted recluse who teams up with a fourteen-year-old girl. Together, they fight to survive as they get to know each other. He is computer-smart and used to ordering his needs online. She is street-smart. Where one is strong, the other is weak in world that has degenerated into hungry mobs of desperate people. This book is purposefully different from the norm of the genera in that it centers more on the people while the story advances.
