The Divine Chronicles: The Complete First Series

M.R. Forbes - 2019
Until now. My name is Landon Hamilton. Hacker. Identity thief. Ex-con.  Okay, I’ve made a few mistakes, but I’m just a regular guy trying to get by in this messed up world. There’s only one complication: I’m already dead. I said this world was messed up, didn’t I? You see, I got caught in the middle of the war between good and evil (yeah, it’s a real thing), killed and sent to Purgatory (also a real thing) where I was intercepted by Dante (yup, he’s real too). He had some business he wanted to discuss. It turns out, my soul is a perfect balance of good and evil, and my ancestry happens to be an unholy triumvirate of angel, demon, and human, which apparently is incredibly rare.  It turns out, Dante has the power to send me back to the land of the living, along with some cool new tricks and instructions on how to use them. Too bad this sexy vampire girl crushed them while I was crushing on her. Oh yeah, it also turns out the Queen of All Demons managed to get her hands on the Holy Grail, and now the only thing standing between her and Armageddon is, well…  Me. It’s not like it’s the end of the world if I fail. Oh, wait. It is. If you love rooting for the underdog, vampires, werewolves, angels, demons, action, adventure, humor, and a hint of romance, you’ll love the Divine Chronicles. Pick it up today! Contains: Balance Betrayal Broken Bound

Excerpt: The Death Gate Cycle is a seven-part series of fantasy novels written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. The main conflict is between two powerful races, the Sartan and the Patryns, which branched off from humans following a nuclear holocaust. Centuries prior to the events of the series, the Sartan attempted to end the conflict by sundering the earth into four elemental realms, and imprisoning the Patryn in a fifth prison world, the Labyrinth. The Sartan took up stewardship of the elemental realms, but soon mysteriously lost contact with each other and disappeared. Centuries later, a Patryn known as Xar escaped the Labyrinth, and started returning to the Labyrinth to rescue others. He learned how to access the other worlds and dreamed of freeing all his people from the Labyrinth and conquering the other worlds. The books follow the fiercely independent Haplo, a Patryn agent sent to scout the elemental worlds and throw them into chaos in preparation for his Lord's conquest of them. Weis and Hickman created five distinct fantasy worlds during the course of the series, along with developing the cultures of five major races, their unique Patryn and Sartan, and the common fantasy races of dwarves, elves, and humans. "Margaret and I have always tried to take fantasy literature in new directions. Krynn is a world wholly distinct from Earth, unlike Tolkien's Middle-earth. Time travel itself was a science-fiction notion we applied to fantasy. We have even written fantasies taking place in the far future (The Death Gate Cycle) " Tracy Hickman, The Annotated Dragonlan...More: http: //booksllc.net/?id=121546

The Congruent Apprentice

Dave Schroeder - 2017
Will they be ready? EYNON was excited to leave his village and set off on his wander year. He’d turned sixteen today, and hoped for at least a few adventures. At high noon, he arrived a crossroads and saw a shimmer of silver in the mud. It was a thin and dirty oval, about the size of his palm. He washed it with squirts of water from his goatskin, then marveled at what was revealed. It was a silver amulet, worked with complex, interlaced designs. An oval blue gem more than an inch across, with deep facets, was set in its center. The silver danced with reflected sunlight and the gem seemed to be filled with sparks. It was the most beautifully-crafted thing he’d ever seen. Eynon noticed strange writing on the back of the amulet. As he raised it to eye level for closer inspection, one of his fingers inadvertently pressed a small stud on the edge. A tremendous blast of blue fire shot out from the gem on the opposite side, striking an ancient leafless oak and turning it into a flaming torch. Someone behind him whistled. Eynon dropped the amulet, afraid of what else it might do, and turned to see an old farmer, leaning on a shovel. “Well, young man,” said the farmer. “It looks like you’re going to need a wizard.”
