The Prepper, Part 1: The Collapse
Karl A.D. Brown - 2013
As the world careens towards nuclear and economic disaster, Alfred, acting on his instincts, awakens and becomes a prepper. After four US cities are destroyed with nuclear weapons, the US economy crumbles and the family struggles to survive in a world where food shortages, looting, rioting, and a deadly breakdown of the social order has become the norm. In a time when there is no government, infrastructure, or friends to count on, the Aimes family realizes that all they have is each other. "The Prepper Part One: The Collapse" is a stand alone novel.
The Dogs of Liberty (The Colter Saga)
Joel Baker - 2013
The first novel entitled Friends of the Family followed the struggle of Jesse and Sarah Colter and their family as they face the overnight end of civilization. They are forced on a journey through a desolate and dangerous landscape, testing the courage and resolve of the family and the friends they meet along the way. As they reach Haven, Jesse’s childhood home, they struggle to fight evil and build a life of love and decency for their family. The second novel entitled The Way of the Dogs begins some eighty years after the Colter family arrived at a place called Haven. Sarah and Jesse’s son Paul, now in his nineties, is the sole survivor of the family. The extended Colter family has prospered, unaware of the gathering storm of wickedness swirling around them. James Colter, the only grandson of Mark, is a loner, and very much like his great grandfather Jesse. Not comfortable with the progress around him, he could be the last best hope as evil descends on Haven. This third novel The Dogs of Liberty begins with the Cherokees and Gypsies move north. James Colter was asked to lead the expedition with his wife Molly. While James ancestors settled Haven at the time of the Go Back, now with civilization returning, James is anxious to leave all that behind. Leading the wagon train north seemed an ideal solution. Molly knew of James need for wide open spaces and there was nothing holding them to Haven. When their daughter had told them the Colter dogs were dying, she hoped the move north would enable the dogs to recover and remain friends of the family.

H.H. Stinnis - 2016
They’ve both had the undeniable feeling for some time now that something horrible is coming soon that could change their lives forever. They buy a remote cabin in the Colorado Rockies, and begin the process of preparing for hard times. When Stan’s wife dies of cancer, he must struggle to carry on alone with their plans. Then the Collapse occurs, and it’s the worst economic and social collapse in history. All commerce grinds to a halt and the dollar dies along with our markets. This collapse has been engineered to take America down, and with it the other major superpowers, and it brings about the end of modern society around the globe. Now the Elite can begin anew in North America, with new laws and a new currency to replace the dollar and the Euro. Prices soar out of control and cash is unavailable with the banks closed. Food and gasoline soon run out as supplies are not replenished and then clean water stops flowing with the loss of electricity. All emergency services cease and the politicians have deserted their country. Rule of law ends and people everywhere are fighting for their lives. America is now a place very few people were prepared for, and now many of them are regressing as well. Good and moral men are forced to live like animals in order to survive and feed their families. Stan’s military training, his cunning, and his preps are the only things that will keep him alive and safe now. Then one day Stan must choose to save a young woman or let her be raped and murdered in cold blood. Saving her means taking her in and providing for her, while not knowing if he can even trust her. Will she be a good partner for him at the cabin, or another deady foe? In the end, he gains valuable intel about a nearby group of men who are terrorizing the region. Will this group find his cabin during their searches for food and supplies? Are there others like them out there? The enemy could be anywhere now, and while Stan fought in many deadly campaigns and black operations, this is different. Gangs are leaving the cities in search of supplies, and foreign troops are rumored to be on American soil. Stan will need to make trusted friends and allies in order to overcome these new threats.
Beware Sleeping Dragons
T.J. Reeder - 2013
(The Posse Comitatus Act is the United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1385, original at 20 Stat. 152) that was passed on June 18, 1878, after the end of Reconstruction and was updated in 1981. Its intent (in concert with the Insurrection Act of 1807) was to limit the powers of Federal government in using federal military personnel to enforce the State laws.) The training and armament of our civilian police has led to many abuses of power where the police don't believe they are above the Law, but that they ARE the Law". This has culminated in the deaths of many Americans who have reacted to middle of the night break-ins by law enforcement, reached for a weapon to protect his or her family, and been executed. The 'no-knock' rule must go and civility towards the public must return. Barring that, I see a time when this story line will become the common occurrence. People will say, "Enough!" and will say it with force, if needed.

Defending Sea Breezes: When the Collapse comes, what if your family doesn't have a bunker in the woods to escape to?
Douglas Thornblom - 2015
There is no unexplained virus that turns people into zombies. There is no band of preppers that have a stocked hideout to bug out to. Unlike most novels of this genre, the author provides a very credible, actually very likely, background as to how the collapse of America occurs, and then how a normal middle class community responds to the breakdown of society. In the near future, worldwide political and military strife increases, and Israel is forced to try to take out Iran's nuclear facilities weeks before they complete a nuclear weapon. Iran and Islamic terrorists accelerate their long-planned strike against the "Great Satan" in revenge. An average American middle class community is faced with a sudden and complete breakdown of the U.S. economy, government, and society after a massive, nation-wide Islamic terrorist attack combined with a devastating cyber attack on American infrastructure. Like the vast majority of Americans, none of the residents of Sea Breezes have a convenient bunker in the woods or a compound of survivalist friends to escape to. They have to find some way to organize themselves in order to survive with what they have on hand, and what they can obtain by using their own wits and determination. Retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Richard Cantrell and his brother-in-law, former Marine Gunnery Sergeant Josh Koenig, residents of the Florida community, volunteer to help, and what follows is the riveting and often heart-breaking account of a community coming to grips with the unthinkable. "Defending Sea Breezes” is a complex story that weaves together international Islamic terrorism, government foreign policy failures, and the indomitable American spirit, to portray one of the most realistic and compelling “what if” stories of survival, all in one complete, stand-alone novel. Unlike similar novels, this story gives a realistic, even probable, military and political background for the Collapse. Advisories: If you believe that America's foreign policy over the last 7 years has been on the right course you will not enjoy this book. Because this novel contains contemporary dialogue, it contains some profanity. Special note from the author: I have been working on this novel for many months, and as I was preparing to publish it, the horrific events of the ISIS massacre in Paris occurred. Unfortunately, those attacks fit exactly into the story line of my novel, and the event was easily incorporated; in fact, I only modified one sentence to do so. It is disturbing, but all too predictable in today's world, when terrorism fiction becomes fact.
Buck Out
Ken Benton - 2015
When China and Japan decide it’s time to dump U.S. Treasury Bonds, an economic nightmare plays out in America. The Federal Reserve watches helplessly as the dollar is decimated and the resulting food shortage spreads lawlessness across the land like a virus. Malcolm is a successful day trader who always needs to make one more score before he’ll listen to Ryan and diversify some of his assets into real estate or gold. He figures an impressively-larger bank account might be the only way he can lure his Secret Service agent ex-wife back. Malcolm finally hits it big by aggressively shorting bonds when the market crashes, but waits too long to invest in tangibles. All that newfound money suddenly won’t by him a bar of gold, a pint of beer, or a minute of Hannah’s attention—especially when she’s in the field chasing down a former counterfeiting gang. As luck would have it, Ryan turns out to be a closet doomsday prepper. The two of them attempt to escape the chaotic Big Apple and reach Ryan’s land in West Virginia, supplied only by the contents of Ryan’s bug-out bag. But it’s not going to be an easy journey. Traveling has become difficult and dangerous. Malcolm learns he must redirect the same tenacity which helped him beat the markets towards staying alive on the road …and, hopefully, finding Hannah.
The Reversion (Stonemont Book 1)
Steven C. Smith - 2017
When the world did crash, his family’s home of Stonemont became not only a refuge, but a place where it might be possible to start over again, and reclaim the American ideal. Among the many novels in the SHTF/TEOTWAWKI genre, The Reversion stands apart – and, perhaps, alone. It does not follow the survival learning curve of the unprepared or minimally-prepared, as so many excellent books have already done so well. Rather, it is the story of a man who was prepared, and of how his preparation and foresight provided not only a safe haven for him and his family, but a re-start point for those who come together to survive the collapse of the world around them. As such, it is an unbelievably positive book about an unbelievably negative circumstance, and carries within it the lessons of preparedness and survival that every person should strive to learn. Tightly woven into the story are threads of history, morality, politics, economics, philosophy and comparative justice – the kind America was founded on, the kind they had devolved to under the weight of an increasingly liberal and socialist society, and the kind that might re-establish a society reflective of America’s original ideals. As these threads are woven into the fabric of the larger story of survival, the realization emerges that a great catastrophe enabled the return of what makes us, as human beings, truly happy and fulfilled, and that, perhaps, only a great catastrophe could. The Reversion, written by an expert in survival and preparedness with an interesting government and non-government background, is destined to be an instant classic in the preparedness/survival genre. More than a good story, it is a manual and a resource for all who are interested in these fields, and deserves to be kept on your desk or chair-side table where it can be read, re-read and referred to often.
